Moot has been the single main admin of 4chan since he started it 11 years ago. He's seen it through times where he had to take out personal loans to keep the server afloat due to increased traffic or when he had to replace/update the server due to it aging. Over the past couple of years he's been striving to make the site self sufficient fiscally as well as building a team of admins/maintainers that could eventually run the site for him (even though that wasn't immediately apparent). As of yesterday he decided to step down and allow the team he's been building to take over running the site day to day.
Some people think this is the final death blow to a community that has been circling the drain for years while some boards just continue with business as usual.
Personally I'll miss his shenanigans, but who knows what the next couple of months will bring.
Here's his post about it:
Because most boards are limited to only eleven or sixteen pages so the content could disappear in a few hours or days(from board to board). If you haven't you should definitely read the FAQ.
You have been banned from all boards for posting >>>/pol/112357913, a violation of Global Rule 2:
You will immediately cease and not continue to access the site if you are under the age of 18.
Man, people in this sub can be massively unhelpful. For those wondering:
>What is "sage"?
>Entering "sage" (by itself) into the [Options] field while replying will cause the thread not to bump to the top of the page. Contrary to popular belief, a sage is not a downvote, and should not be used as one. "sage-bombing" or announcing that you've saged a thread may result in a ban.
From: https://www.4chan.org/faq#sage
Basically, it's a way of replying to a thread without "bumping" it, or making it stay active longer. People do this to threads they don't want to stick around.
Yes. /b/ is 'Random' and most of the negative impressions/stereotypes of 4chan originate there. Other boards are for discussion of various things. /v/ is for video games, etc.
If you look here: https://www.4chan.org/frames you can find the /*/ for whatver topic.
Check https://www.4chan.org/bans and view some of the OP's. Everything is SJW related, Zoe Quinn related, etc. A lot of it is baited by the users being banned, and some of it isn't. It's pretty insane to watch this whole thing go down, as the ZQ thing isn't even that big of a deal in comparison to the whole Indie Gaming Awards disaster. (Still searching for the article on that. TLDR; People were given award money for mediocre games, while most games weren't even played by the judges handing out prize money)
Here's what you'll need to know.
Honestly, it's not a lot but, knowing 4chan, leaving any personal information there is pretty much signing a waiver because if you piss them off and some /b/tard finds your pass, you're going to be sorry for a long, long time.
That's an old meme. 4chan passes are legit. https://www.4chan.org/pass
You were saying something about your first day on the internet?
inb4 rekt
edit for those who arrived late: Guy was talking about how it "must be everyone on this pages' first day on the net, because 4chan gold doesn't exist", and how we're all idiots.
Well i just explained that is not the case. Here's an extensive list of rules they have set in place. Don't worry, you won't get hacked or doxxed or get a virus from looking in here. https://www.4chan.org/rules In short they have 17 global rules which must be followed.
Why can't you get to /bant/ like you can to other boards, by just writing https://www.4chan.org/bant ?
Instead you have to write https://boards.4chan.org/bant/
Was Hiro/mods to lazy to fix the linking correctly?
https://www.4chan.org/rules lists the general rules and the rules specific to each board. The boards that have civility rules have blue backgrounds when you visit them, while the more "hive of scum and villany" boards have an orange one. Still, no 4chan board is as civil as say, this subreddit, but the blue boards are better than shitlord subreddits like redpill, or greatapes, or KiA.
On 4chan, all threads have bump limits (Amount of replies that a thread can have before it doesn't bump to the first page); image limits (No more images can be posted in the thread); and each board has a limit on the number of threads, so any thread at the very end of the pages will be deleted when a new thread is created.
What a "sage" does is get the thread closer to the bump limit, without actually bumping the thread to the first page. When you sage, you are basically telling the poster that their thread isn't worth the space it occupies. When I was last on there, any sager had their name turned into a "link", but Moot had recently made sages invisible (Pretty stupid if you ask me, how are new users supposed to learn the ropes?).
Janitors of an imageboard, basically like a lesser moderator. Here's how they work on 4chan, it might depend from site to site but it tends to be something like that.
Don't know if Reddit has jannies, it's probably just an insult cuz no one respects jannies.
I don't even know what the drama is exactly but ok, by that logic let's look at 4chan's rules. https://www.4chan.org/rules #4 states that any raid is not allowed, and if I remember correctly results in a 2 week ban from the site. Not just the board, but the entire site.
4chan is also not a single body, for every /b/tard choking on their own spit you can find another person discussing how everyone else is a plebian co/ck/ that doesn't know shit about cooking, someone masturbating furiously over their bunny weapon stoc/k/pile, arguing about if /vp/oreons should adhere to smogon or just play what they like, whether elf slave girls could sex appeal a fa/tg/uy out of his slaaneshi pleasure dome, or weaboos discussing if their w/a/ifu is truly his only love or not.
A "Small portion" of tumblr is SJWs and an even smaller portion of that possibly participated in a raid on 4chan. They (I'm assuming) went to /b/ and tried... something retarded, and then of the /b/tards that saw that thread, a small number discussed whether or not to counter-raid. And then an even smaller number actually took part. Keep in mind anyone actually posting relating to this raid would've been banned and they're aware of it.
Compare that to tumblr's rules http://www.tumblr.com/policy/en/community
And then look at all the sexism, racism, classism, and whatever other "-ism"s that are allowed to stay on the site. Not just the feminists. The neonazis, the redpillers, the white supremacists, black supremacists, Japanese supremacists (thisisnotjapanese or whatever they're called).
Tumblr didn't awaken a sleeping dragon. A small majority poked a stick at the ocean of piss and got splashed by a small majority of the most brain damaged individuals that can still read and write. And you're defending one side instead of simply enjoying the smell.
4chan even has a rule against criticism now, which results in a site-wide ban. It's enforced too. Despite reddit's problems, we're still a lot better off here.
Sadly that exact information isn't public, but you can at least know that there are over 200k people using 4chan right now (scroll to the bottom), almost a million posts per day and over 27 million unique visitors a month. I presume that /pol/ makes up around 20% (or even 30%) of that traffic. So, that's a shit ton of people, at least.
I was just on /b/ it was filled with porn, misogyny and racism. I'm confused on how 4chan has been taken over by tumblr sjw's
People are saying moot buckled to pressure from Cracked and Anita?
The amount of heat moot has gotten from the FBI and government and his own members over the past decade would be a mountain compared to the pebble the sjw community could throw at him.
4chan already had the reputation of being a cesspit of gore and pedophilia, what more could they do to the reputation of the worst website on the net?
FFS someone posted a pic of Anita topless on /pol/ and its still up.
Either some ingenious sjw is trying to troll 4chan
or they are trolling themselves again with a false flag type op.
Show me the perma bans and maybe i'll believe this. Otherwise 4chan banning has always been filled with lols and drama. It's a joke in itself. Hell 4chan is pretty open on why they're banning people
Betting this is just one of the boards^(see /po/) trying to rile up the members to go after the sjw community again
No. Almost all Chinese IPs are banned BY 4CHAN. Sure, the captcha is firewalled by China, but for example in Tsinghua campus, Google wasn't banned and you were unable to post even though you completed the captcha successfully, because China is banned by IP RANGE by 4chan admins, ip range ban which you can only bypass with 4chan pass.
You have to buy a 4chan pass to get through the range ban (Passes bypass IP range and country blocks. source https://www.4chan.org/pass)
So YOU lurk more
I don't think that either weaponized autism or weaponized nofap is comprised of all that many AARP members.
Here's where they post recent bans, to give you an idea of moderation over there. Some of the links are going to be gross, but anything illegal is deleted so you don't have to worry about that. Possible/Likely NSFW material.
It's like you didn't even read the pass stuff, and just commented on a picture.
>6. Posting spam messages or other content that violates United States law to 4chan will result in immediate revocation of the Pass.
Not sure if you're just joking, or if you're being serious, but a trip is the closest thing 4chan has to accounts. https://www.4chan.org/faq#trip
Being very genuine here, you would be extremely welcome on the site, and it would be incredibly helpful for a lot of users to be able to talk with you anonymously. Just post your tripcode somewhere here (not the password, but whatever shows up - e.g. putting "Dr. Will Powers##asdfasdf" into the name field on a 4chan post would return "Dr. Will Powers !!EqdZr9y1DQ5" and that is what you would post to let people know that it is you).
If you have any questions or need help with posting, I'd be happy to help you with it. We would love to have you.
> How do I use a "tripcode"? > > Tripcodes can help verify a user's identity to others, and are a type of pseudo-registration. To use a normal tripcode, place a hash mark ("#") followed by a word or short phrase after what you've entered into the [Name] field (ex. "User#password"). Upon submission, the server will generate the hash unique to that particular word or phrase. The previous example would display "User !ozOtJW9BFA" after being posted. > > > > Important note: A tripcode is generated only using the text entered after the hash mark. Your entered name, IP address, cookie information, etc. do not affect the output. Normal tripcodes are not secure, and can be cracked with relative ease. For a more secure solution, see secure tripcodes.
No, this is not true. It's tempting and easy to call them "13 year olds" just because their behavior happens to align with what one views as immature or childish, but the reality is different.
See here. The demographic goes from 18 to 34 years old.
I suspect your claims of them being "dumb" and "sheltered" are similarly biased, but finding out whether those claims are true or not is a bit more difficult.
I swear like 90% of the people who reference image boards as rule-less wild west wastelands have never actually been to those image boards. /v/ has rules, they're just not the same rules as /r/Games or reddit in general. I think /v/ and /r/Games attract different types of people because of the community and culture that they already have(and part of that is the moderation) but to say that they will swarm out any reasonable voices if the moderation was not as heavy is disingenuous at best.
A person's virginity wave function, represented by Ψ(r, t), where r is their social standing over time and relative to the group known collectively as "Chads" encompasses all possible situations where the only consistent characteristic is that their continued behavior is correlated with a decreased chance of getting laid.
siteananytics.compete.com is not a reliable source for this type of information, the people running that site don't have access to the actual numbers.
Breitbart is the 36th most visited site in the US according to Alexa.
http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/breitbart.com
For comparison 4chan is the 136th and they have 27 million uniques a month.
/pol/ is referred to as a containment board, and everybody else hates them with a passion. In fact, according to 4chan's official TOS, overt racism is banned outside of /b/ and /pol/.
mostly for spamming.
> A number of ISPs, IP ranges, and countries are disallowed from posting. These blocks stem from repeated abuse coming from these ISPs/IP ranges/countries.
On top of that, the OPs of those threads are getting banned for wanting to discuss GamerGate. On 4chan, of all places.
Have tried Reddit's darker cousin https://www.4chan.org/?
You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy (if that's your thing).
In all seriousness go to you library and read a book. Discus has a few wholesome discussions you can join if you need something more interactive than a book.
Go to these places, find the same stories, read them from each perspective and go down the middle.

> It’s entirely understandable that — to use an entirely hypothetical example — someone with the Southern Poverty Law Center might impersonate a fictional white supremacist to get into a private Ku Klux Klan chat room and see what those people are up to.
> But the US Department of Justice says it’s illegal (under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act) to evade terms of service with false identities.
There are huge problems with the US government contracting with private companies to siphon up huge amounts of private data.
This is not one of them.
White supremacist hubs like 4chan and 8chan don't have actual "terms of service", and what they do have in no way prevents one from anonymizing their own identity. Lying about one's identity is also not in the TOS here on reddit. Its not in the TOS for Parler or Gab.
Only creep websites like Facebook have TOS's tied to someone's real identity.
This whole article is stretch to say the least, and arguably an outright falsehood.
She sounds pretty cute. Damm, I forgot that this is not 4chan and theres not a special place for images cuz I wanted to put this one https://www.google.com/search?tbs=simg:CAQSogIJh6ncjAx0WccalgILEKjU2AQaAghCDAsQsIynCBpiCmAIAxIogBaLHp4LkB6MHvcKgRb-FYoeihbjPtE4zzjJONA4oyDIOMIi-T7lIhowPHKNQnR3tCVsrZaNYQpw2IBtLqBMqImtGydy-N92KL0hv8yMfgT0IZnYeg52X_1XOIAQMCxCOrv4IGgoKCAgBEgSecgZVDAsQne3BCRqDAQoXCgRoZXJk2qWI9gMLCgkvbS8wM3ZkNDYKFwoFc2hlZXDapYj2AwoKCC9tLzA3YmdwChoKB2dyYXppbmfapYj2AwsKCS9tLzAzaGgyawoaCghtb3VudGFpbtqliPYDCgoIL20vMDlkX3IKFwoEaGlsbNqliPYDCwoJL20vMDRfNXNnDA&sxsrf=ALeKk03HP-22w5nsskQhYOK-N64yNKM45w:1595282547003&q=shepherd+and+sheep&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwig7p7M6tzqAhXmxIsKHUYQCOUQwg4oAHoECAkQKA
Even 4chan need mods and rules. Many of them are hardly enforced, but it's based in the US so the 1st rule is "You will not upload, post, discuss, request, or link to anything that violates local or United States law. " For example, if you post actual child porn there it will be removed and your details recorded because it leaves 4chan open to legal liability.
Every social media system needs mods in some for or other.
You have the sight; you see the world as it truly is, yet your eyes have just begun to open. You are waking up.
Take this: https://www.4chan.org/
You can stay in wonderland if you wish; just follow the link, and we can show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.
You know that hot chick in class? Well you have to kidnap her use the blood of her(assuming she’s a virgin if not get another one) then you’ll summon the true demon: The Duo Owl. After smearing you name in blood and drawing pentagrams go onto 4chan and learn how to speak Furry which is basically from the same family tree. However after long enough, your body hair and testosterone will increase. If you did not have testosterone, you will now gain more than a JoJos character and you will hear the Duolingo Owl laughing as he drinks the blood of the virgin you sacrificed. He will then present you with the hidden course in his stashes full of unreleased Duolingo courses. If your lucky you can steal his Uzbek course and hopefully his Tajik course because Tajik is the real superior weeb Lang.
Tool:
Susans; it's like the first Google result. I take it back, though. Susans looks way more serious. Maybe their libidos slowed down for long enough.
OTOH, https://www.4chan.org/lgbt/catalog is a board that has very similar horny-excited culture to the Reddit boards; probably has overlapping demographics.
You use a "tripcode". You just enter any character sequence you want, and 4chan scrambles it in a way so it's impossible to reverse engineer, but only associated with soemone who knows the proper character sequence. Tripcodes are usually frowned upon on 4chan, at least some boards.
That's really not even remotely true any more. At all. Over the last couple of years there's been a big crackdown on posts they don't like. They even have a rule that states you'll be banned for complaining about 4chan.
https://www.4chan.org/rules >"Complaining about 4chan (its policies, moderation, etc) on the imageboards may result in post deletion and a ban."
Even reddit doesn't ban you for complaining about reddit policies. The idea of 4chan being some free speech bastion is a complete joke. The whole thing was why there was a big exodus to 8chan and the like.
Turn off ambient display, and keep auto brightness on.
Update your phone to 5.1 via the settings menu, it makes the performance much better.
For music, use Google play music.
For reddit, use relay for reddit.
If you want a fancy calendar widget, use today calendar.
If you want some nice wallpapers, I'd go on /wg/ on 4chan. There's really nice wallpapers on that fourm. https://www.4chan.org/WG/
Good luck, it's a great phone despite the front facing camera.
Is it really kill though? I heard about the mass exodus but just checked the traffic stats and it looks like 4chan has seen an increase in traffic since GG. It gets over 22 mil unique views per month (according to them). And its lowest ranking is still far greater than the highest rank seen from 8chan.
Unless anyone knows something about web statistics than can explain these discrepancies it would seem that 4chan is still far more popular than 8chan.
>mootnote: I plan to dedicate this Friday afternoon (ET) to host a livestreamed Q&A session, where I'll hold court with the community one last time. Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube page, and keep an eye out for a global message the day of.
Good thing you didn't see 4chan's Global Rule 15. ~~or else you would've gone back and went back for sweet mey-meys xDDD.~~ > All pony/brony threads, images, Flashes, and avatars belong on /mlp/.
You should hang out on /v/ sometime. Lately they've been doing nothing but bitching up a storm about that game (and actually presenting some decent reasons as to why).
I won't spoil it though, you should go experience it for yourself.
No, you fucking idiot. Moderators are different from jannies. Why is everybody on this sub such a fucking idiot? Don't talk about things you know nothing about.
See this tinyboard screenshot where you can clearly see that moderators are different from jannies.
And here's the janitor application webpage on 4chan. Janitor, not moderator.
Here's a link to 4 chan
No one is forcing you to read this and they even say that take things on here with a grain of salt
or should this website be blocked because it does not fall in line with Ministery of Truth!
>jannie
Reddit doesn't have jannies!
Don't use 4chan lingo where it doesn't apply. Reddit only has moderators. 4chan and tinyboard imageboards like lainchan, vichan, etc. have jannies in addition to moderators.
Not sure if you're joking or not but I'll humor you.

- You visit the website ( https://www.4chan.org/ )
- You select the board that interest you.
- Once selected, shortcuts to other boards are available at the top of the page, alongside a [Home] button.
- You scroll from top to bottom of a board to see available threads, click the next page number to see more threads at the bottom.
- Threads that are active and have correspondence or are "popular" gets moved to the top.
- Commenting is simple, just observe the numbers that reference which post or comment that interest you, and click it.

>>>/pol/ they’ll like you better there
Its toxic AF in many ways. You will be shilled every shit coin so your going to have to be careful especially if your new to crypto or markets. GL
You what a link, sure https://www.4chan.org/pol/ Hang out there for a few hours. This where Qanon was "born". Its not as active or as extreme as it once was. But /pol/ is still /pol/. Just don't stare to deep in to that abyss, you really don't what that staring back at you.
> 4chan is a simple image-based bulletin board where anyone can post comments and share images. There are boards dedicated to a variety of topics, from Japanese animation and culture to videogames, music, and photography. Users do not need to register an account before participating in the community.
You can use site: https://www.4chan.org/ or apps like omnichan/clover on Android. 4chan hosts boards like /b/ for random, /a/ for anime and manga, /pol/ for politically incorrect, /fit/ for fitness and so on.
I guess main appeal of 4chan is that registration is not required to post content, you will be posting as anonymous.
Go to the ban appeal form on that page and submit a ban appeal. If you genuinely did nothing wrong there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to work this out with the admins on 4chan.
same thing with four chan. I had heard it pronounced as 4 chan so I typed in 4chan.com (don't click that) turns out that website is a porn site and the real one is https://www.4chan.org/
Oh yeah, they definitely still have "roll" threads like that.
As for trolls, 4chan's /lgbt/ board actually has rules which allow for you to report any post which is a "disrespectful or hateful comment". The moderation staff isn't 100% perfect, of course, but please trust me when I say that /lgbt/ is not at all comparable to a board like /b/. They have very different cultures and posting communities.
If you still want to avoid it, though, then that's understandable. You are something of a professional, after all, so it would make sense.
Here it is: https://www.4chan.org/
On one level it's just a message board. But it's better considered as the dark, beating heart of internet culture. It is perhaps better experienced than described.
4chan lingo for janitor, IE the sub-moderators of boards. It's a meme that only a loser would dedicate their time to moderating a cesspool like 4chan (it's true, after all), and therefore jannies are losers. Lots of great niche OC, solid meme, 9/10 would love to see Reddit co-opt it against moderators.
I'm sorry your feelings are hurt, you are very confused and sensitive.
May I suggest a safe space?
God bless.

Mods are still gay, usually funny though; post whatever you want however you want as long as even remotely on topic no ones going to care
> bigoted shithole.
You will not post any of the following outside of /b/:
a. Troll posts
b. Racism
/Pol/ gets away with it because it’s an unmoderated shithole but you can easily get banned for bigotry on the other boards. 4chan’s moderating system is far more effective than Reddit’s one.
On Reddit:
Report a post to the reddit admins for a valid reason
Wait 2 days
Get an message saying they have read your report even though the post is still up
On 4chan:
Report a post to the 4chan mods for a valid reason
Wait 20 minutes
Check back on the post and notice that it has been deleted

4chan has a rules section that says not to do many of the things "Pridefall" is about yet i very much doubt that they'll punish the users taking part :/
4chan needs to be taken down
I don’t think so. 4chan provides the following stats to advertisers: Page impressions per month: 703,000,000 Unique visitors per month: 27,700,000 Posts per day: 900,000-1,000,000.
While it’s possible in theory since we don’t have access to more hard data, that would assume each 4chan poster posted around 1,000 separate times every single day and every month 27,699,000 other people visited the site and not one of them posted.

If you honestly want reasons for why Western conspiracy theorists are anti-semitic, and anti-science to a lesser degree, you will find much more detailed and sincere justifications at www.4chan.org/pol . The content there is fascist, extremely hate-filled and disgusting, but they have many more types of reasons (or excuses) than anyone on Reddit can supply for you. I'm sorry, Reddit absolutely hates fascism, anti-intellectualism and hateful ideology, but that also means they don't have sincere or complete interpretations about why people like 4channers or conspiracy theorists believe what they do. You should go to a main source like /pol/, brave into the vile heart of the beast (or lack thereof) and try to understand from their point of view if you can. Godspeed.
this is a bit of an aside, but why doesn't 4chan work anymore? i am in Australia and it says "www.4chan.org's server IP address could not be found". I miss being able to go on 4chan.....
Send 4chan a DMCA complaint.
There's not really anything you can do to prevent this from happening. All you can really do is find where they're posted and send takedowns.
Of course not... Luke Smith doesnt hang out here on reddit. He hangs out in www.4chan.org/pol/

Which incidentally is how he met TripCode.

Actually, the information I requested was completely anonymous.

But I am not forcing him to reveal his, if he has any.

YUP, I sure would have bud! Beyond that this is directly relevant to KSP and the upcoming 1.0 update. Lastly, there are a tremendous amount of young people that play this game and I'm in favor of them learning things about the real world instead of making some silly assumption like the characters name was made up because it was announced on Valentines day. Don't be such a prick, or be one, I don't really care, just do it over there.
Edit: As a follow up, I guess I should note that, yeah man, you're totally right, posts that detail the millionth SR-71 design to grace this sub or the umpteenth mun landing should take precedence over relevant real world information, you know, for the sake of proper categorization.
So /u/Melbifornian says these guys are trolls, yes the ones from the video posting Hitler shit and ASCII dicks and what not, I ask him if that is the case in general, and you call me a cunt?
Wat?
I think you missed the point it was a god damn question.
Could be GG, or more likely, the "hacker known as 4chan" fappening (since that would directly translate to an increase in the word 4chan in search terms).
Here are m00t's news posts which consistently show an increase in total pageviews and unique visitors. It's not pure data: it requires you to basically trust m00t and the spirit of what he's saying.

Searching by visitors will give you most of the different sections about 4chan's popularity, but of particular interest are these sections:
9/18/13 "Last month, 4chan was accessed by 22.5 million unique visitors. For comparison, during that same period five years ago, the site was accessed by 3.2 million unique visitors. Rules 1 and 2 be damned, 4chan has grown dramatically over the years."
08/06/12 "In 2008, 4chan was accessed by 30 million unique visitors, and served 2.4 billion pageviews. In 2009, 4chan was accessed by 60 million unique visitors, and served 4.4 billion pageviews. In 2010, 4chan was accessed by 130 million unique visitors, and served 7.5 billion pageviews. In 2011, 4chan was accessed by 190 million unique visitors, and served 7 billion pageviews. This year, 4chan has been accessed by 134 million unique visitors, and served 4.5 billion pageviews."
Important to note that the 2012 numbers are as of August 6, so they're trending to be 189 million uniques/6.4 billion pageviews.
So 2010, 2011, and 2012 all seem comparable in some ways but distinct in others, with the downturn of total pageviews and an uptick in unique visitors. Perhaps because of a decrease in dedicated userbase/increase in popular knowledge. Don't have any good data about 2013 or 2014.
Well, by 4chan I mostly meant everything but /b/. Even then, on Reddit I don't hear many bad things about 4chan other than people that exaggerate everything they hear about /b/ and base their opinion of 4chan off of that. On Reddit, 4chan is typically regarded as good, because people know that the whole 4chan pedophilia/hacking stereotype is blown out of proportion and mostly applies to /b/ (child porn even gets banned on that board). I wouldn't qualify hearing about a couple murders and raids as "hearing a lot of bad things" about 4chan. I think I hear more good than bad. If we're going to base a website's quality off of the amount of bad things we hear, then according to that logic Reddit would be 100 times more vulgar and and obscene than 4chan.
The closest thing you'll see to child porn on 4chan other than actual cheese pizza threads (that get reported and banned pretty quickly) are going to be lolli threads on /b/. Other than that, you're good.
4chan has a lot of good civilized communities, check them out.
I mostly browse /o/, /g/, and /3/ and I've seen child porn only once in the past year.
I believe 4chan has the best explanation for "shitpost." The definition is simple: knowingly contributing low quality, off-topic, or ill intentioned posts.
If you really think about it, based on that definition, shitposting is a little different from simply posting low quality content.
4Chan is an image board. It's notorious for child porn occasionally slipping through on one of their boards (/b/), but it's still got a good number of healthy boards. I go to /ck/ fairly often for new ideas on what I should cook. It's also got a number of "niche porn" boards too, if that's your sort of thing.
In short, tread lightly.
