Microsoft's Your phone companion app has really gotten better. If you have the latest insider preview of Windows 10 you can sync all your notifications, messages and recent photos to your Windows PC without having to install any additional software. It also supports screen mirroring for some Android phones.
No, you need Microsoft Apps https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager
The UI when you start the app is just a launchpad to other MS apps in the store. But you don't have to open the app again after you connected your account, so who cares.
But before you run out to test it, the Windows counterpart seems to be pulled again for non Windows-Insiders: https://mspoweruser.com/microsoft-pulls-your-phone-app-from-windows-10-april-2018-update/
You should check out this app: Microsoft Apps its basically a MS App Store in the Google Store. It's a collection of all MS App's on Androide. Made by Microsoft.
I use 'Your Phone' app from Microsoft. With the updates past month it can do nice things and works really well. Regarding copy paste it is as easy as it gets = you mark/copy on your mobile and paste directly on windows (windows/android can share the same clipboard)

>See the following snapshot from the help site:
Let emailing yourself be a thing of the past. Just drag and drop.
You can now transfer files or images between your Android device and PC by dragging them from one device to the other. Start by opening phone screen in the Your Phone app, then just drag your desired files between your devices. There are a few exceptions, so learn more about file drag and drop here.
File drag-and-drop is available for select Samsung devices with Phone screen eligibility. Find out more about setting up and using phone screen here.
Copy here, paste there
You don't have to email that vacation picture to yourself to transfer it between devices. Just copy from your Android device and paste on your PC (or vice versa). Use your normal shortcut keys: just select some text or a picture, copy it, switch devices, and paste.
To turn on this feature, open Your Phone and go to Settings > Cross-device copy and paste. Make sure the toggle is On for Allow this app to access and transfer content I copy and paste between my phone and PC.
The new Your Phone Companion from Microsoft will do that for you for free!

Personally, I use Join as I also need to send notifications between two different Android phones, but that's a one time cost for the Android app, and ALSO a one time cost for the native Windows 10 app (the Chrome extension is free though).
At present all you can do is see your photos and messaging.
No APP Mirroring as of yet!
Even though you can download the app from playstore.
You still need to get MS to send a text to your phone to setup on PC, by providing a phone no.
Also need to login with your associated MS Account.
What is not clear is if you pull a photo from your phone, is it sending/receiving over your local wifi or using the net to do so.

Edit: - Need to be connected to wifi (not data) for the app to work, so I assume it is local communication.
I thought so too, but it turns out they have the Your Phone Companion app available. I don't care for the Microsoft launcher at all so this was a nice surprise.
I've just given up and gone back to strickly Local Accounts and removed any Your Phone Companion apps, as well as blowing away Microsoft Launcher and such. Think I kept To-Do app perhaps, because I have a few unresolved notes from many moon ago, but I'm done attempting to use these stupid things, as the basics never even work. I've given it years, fuck it dude... let's go bowling.
Even Microsoft Advertising and Your Phone Companion on Android have had their new icons before Visio, Publisher, Project and Access...

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.bingads&hl=en_GB
If your laptop is running Windows you can use the Your Phone Companion app to access your phone remotely.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager&hl=en_US&gl=US
If you are using Windows 10, you can install Windows 10's companion app to sync your SMS and photos at one place. They recently updated it to sync in mobile data which makes a great convenience. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager
Also if you are using Messages (Google's SMS app), you can connect your phone to messages.android.com to send SMS on your PC.
I think the Cortana app can sync notifications. (You'll have to install it manually if Cortana isn't available in your region). There's also the Your Phone Companion app to sync messages and view photos on your PC.
Nope, you just need Continue on PC as a share target which comes as a part of downloading "Microsoft Apps" I believe
EDIT: added a link
I realize it's not Hangouts chat, but I've finally migrated to this and it's just enough to have easy/convenient access to SMS/MMS while at my desktop.
It's not Hangouts either, but if you are on a Windows PC, there's also the Your Phone Companion app which should grant access to your Messages & Photos on your Pixel devices.
This was the largest initial pain point when first migrating from more than half a decade of Google Voice usage as my primary number, to Project Fi, which I feared was going to be a trade-off. The separation of Hangouts into a clear division between their consumer facing products and business offerings has been kind of a mess in my opinion. Not an Allo style disaster, but not great. Maybe they're competing with M$ Teams and Slack, but I sincerely doubt it. Even using G Suite, it was worth the additional cost to have a Slack setup for doing business and it was simply light years ahead of Hangouts for daily communications.
To counter:
So in the grand scheme the benefits are limited, but there are benefits...
This is a pretty good catalog of Microsoft apps for Android.
Like Paul said, I replaced Google Assistant with Cortana. I wish I could get her to reliably respond to the Bluetooth button on my headset (using Tasker for that), but having the widget makes it tolerable.
He also should have mentioned that the Outlook app isn't quite, um, fully baked yet. It only does a 1-way sync on contacts and doesn't sync calendar items to the phone at all, which means you still have to use another app to get your Outlook.com calendar on the phone for Cortana. Nine is well worth the investment, because it is a better personal information management app and it syncs both contacts and calendars to the phone.
I hate not using our own app, but it is what it is.
(My opinions only, not MSFT's)
Sorry for the bad naming, it's official name is "Link to Windows" ("My Phone" is the Windows app)
>> Is the "My Phone" app your keyboard app?
No, but it's able to synchronize Android and Windows PC clipboards
It's also made obsolete by Microsoft's Phone Link app, which runs on every Windows 10/11 device (PC, laptop, tablet...) and connects to every Android 7.0+ device.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager
> Like, just money reasons?
Probably so they can advertise this on the display stand within stores. It's an existing feature that MS have duplicated, for no reason other than to be able to say, "Only Intel laptops support Intel Unison! Buy today!"
If you have an Android, download the Link to Windows app, and install Phone Link on your Windows computer/laptop.
You can then access your phone photos directly from your computer & upload them from your computer to these sites. No need to mess with all of their individual apps!
Here's an idea, instead of a new app to install on her computer, how about making her phone a slave to the computer. I've never done it but I think this app would allow her to control her phone with her PC giving her access to the app. Windows 10 and above also have settings for creating virtual desktops if she needed to do that so she'd have access to both her PC and phone
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager
Link to Windows
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager&hl=en_GB&gl=US
Here is a description from Samsung: https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/what-is-link-to-windows/
Hmm I don't see why messages.google.com would not work for you. You can sign in from all your devices so I think it should be independent from your carrier and your phone? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Alternatively, you could use Microsoft's Link to Windows - that is if you do use Windows.
Windows and Android has this too, it's called "your phone", It's pre installed on your windows device. It has the shared clipboard so you can copy on one device and pase on another. Another cool thing is you can open android apps right on your windows device l. It's basically opens it Ina. Window the same aspect ratio as a phone(also allows for click drag across on apps like gallery and files) Others feature including, notification sharing, calls, messages. Gotta love companies all trying to one up each other.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager
But doesn't have any cool gesture features like this tho!
I'm just using my phone along with Link To Windows and Bluetooth Audio Receiver to play in PC.
If your phone runs Android and your PC runs Windows you might also want to take a look at Microsoft's "Your Phone" companion app. It does messages, calls, notifications and you can mirror most other phone apps on the PC as well.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work with WiFi-delivered SMS/MMS that Google does, so it's not that reliable with Fi. But when I was on AT&T it worked great. The only times I had any trouble with it was when either the phone OR PC got an updated version and it needed to be updated on the other. Other than that it was solid.
It's improved drastically with Windows 10 Your Phone
Check out the app description for what it can do
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager&hl=en_CA&gl=US
Microsoft's Your Phone Companion works surprisingly well. Can also mirror your phone screen onto your computer, and it syncs the clipboard between the two
Happy to help!
In case you only need specific features like transferring photos, viewing notifications, sending messages and making calls from your PC, there's also this app from Microsoft:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager
Additionally, some messaging apps like WhatsApp and Signal also have Windows applications, which can be paired with your phone and used to more comfortably read and send messages from your PC. Signal has a neat "Note to Self" feature, which allows you to quickly exchange snippets of text, images and files between phone and PC.
If you have windows you can use the program on windows " phone " to link to windows and cast your screen and use all apps. Pull down from the top of android to find "link to windows" button
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager
Another thought is the Your Phone app from Microsoft. They have a feature that enables screen mirroring and works for non samsung devices. I believe you need to be running Android 7.0 or higher for it to work.
>Microsoft’s own “Continue on PC” is great (not sure if available on play store)
Your Phone Companion is the app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager
KDE Connect for Windows is still in beta, clipboard sharing might not be implemented yet.
Microsoft has some "Your Phone Companion" app too, you might want to try that. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager&hl=en_IN&gl=US
Samsung has a bit of integration going on with windows.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager
2.With Dex, you can hook your device up to a Windows PC over USB and have the Dex interface running on your device.
3.With second screen (One UI 3.1 addition) you can use your Tab as an additional display to your windows device.
4.There's also integration with the gallery (One drive is used as the default cloud back up), Samsung notes syncs with Microsoft OneNote.
Might be other little titbits I've missed.
Hey, friend! I'm sorry to see any frustrations around Continue on PC. This is one of those situations where I believe u/eduardobragaxz is accurate, Edge on iPad is currently more like Edge legacy rather than the new Edge (this is the same for Android tablets, not just iPads). The team is in the process of bringing the mobile (both phone and tablet) experience up to parity with our desktop versions, but don't have much to share around that at this time. I believe that there are versions of the Your Phone app (this is the Android version) that can help with this particular pain point, however I also know that iOS/iPad support for that app is a bit difficult to get working.
There is good news on the horizon! We are in the middle of rolling out history and open tab sync to everyone, which will help with this situation. When signed into the same account across devices, you should be able to access your browsing history and actively open tabs from any device. I know, this doesn't help you with the situation you're having now, but I wanted to ensure you were aware of where we are in the process.
Now, where does that put us? Well, I've added your thread (and voice!) to the chorus who have also asked about this experience to follow up once I know of more information. I unfortunately do not have a time frame for when I will have an update, but I will circle back here once I do. :3 Thanks for posting, and happy new year!
May I ask if you have tried Window's 10 'Your Phone App'? It is pre-installed and works quite well. Does not require Wi-Fi and can work over 4G.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/your-phone/9nmpj99vjbwv?activetab=pivot:overviewtab
NO OFFENSE INTENDED TO OP OR APP BUT...,
Why download anything on your PC when WINDOWS 8.1 AND ABOVE HAS NATIVE ANDROID CONNECTIVITY waiting to connect from the moment windows first boots....
For the slightly more tech savvy, .... windows hypervisor x64 win only can make a Virtual Android Device using free and likely already installed & running programs. The (preinstalled on pro & ent.) virtual device can be cloned directly from your phone by telling it to "clone connected device"(* ADB and driver required [fastboot needed for certain devices] ) or use an android backup file from sd card or the cloud and set the imei and sim number to the same as your phone.... * * * ((99% of Verizon devices not worth the hassle of attempting to clone directly, just use a backup then set the numbers manually, their network is very particular and finicky about duplicates and having two copies of a device on the same IP can cause it to deactivate the sim card to allow being transferred to new device <settings transfer function believes the sim will need to be de-provisioned for the new device sim to be provisioned instead and so it deletes it... ))
Native Android connection Your Phone by Microsoft
follow the instructions on screen.... allow extra permissions for notifications... allow using mobile data for sync. Finished.
now you can use your dialer (Bluetooth hardware required for calls), messages, photos, And get android notification pop ups,
and with an additional android app microsoft remote desktop you can use your phone as a touchscreen monitor, mouse, and keyboard for your pc when connected to same router (from ANY active internet connection with pro or enterprise edition of windows)
Microsoft Your Phone Companion app. Version 1.20071.88.0-beta
When I try and share a link from Google News to my PC, it says the link is sent but it does not show up on my PC. This was working for me yesterday before I joined the beta. It's definitely the Your Phone Companion app though, because it's the same result in Chrome and Edge as well.
> The core problem for Microsoft is they just do not have anything popular used on smart phones.
A bold claim.
Let's say Azure cloud services dont exist and power nothing on mobile.
There's Your Phone. Keep in mind the +100 million install is the people who actually went out of their way to install it - its not preinstalled anywhere like that google+ trash that only fraudulently reported over a billion installs.
But wait, there's more. Microsoft powerpoint, Onenote, Swiftkey keyboard each have over 500 million installs, and mobile Word, Excel, Onedrive and Skype each clock over a billion installs - a threshold very few apps have reached, especially when theyre not named goddamn Youtube.
I'm not? I'm specifically talking about

and
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/your-phone/9nmpj99vjbwv?activetab=pivot:overviewtab
respectively, not the launcher.
Your Phone Companion To link android devices to window. You can manage calls, mobile notification, messages and gallery.

Open that app on your phone; it will read the QR code on your PC. Then follow instructions.
Samsung flow on both devices and windows your phone companion app
I've been using Microsoft's Your Phone Companion as it's integrated with Windows. You install an app you your phone and when using windows you have access to the phone gallery remotely. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager
The Windows/Microsoft Your Phone app is likely more up your alley in that case. It's baked right in to the S10 under "Link to Windows."

that one is similar to what you are searching
If you're using Windows 10 1803 or later, you can try Microsoft's Your Phone app. It can sync not only photos, but also text messages and notifications.
Ops, mea culpa.
Are you using Windows 10? Use Microsofts Your Phone Companion app since it's already preinstalled.
and Download Your Phone Companion on Android
>https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager&hl=en_US
You can easily sync them
Edit: No USB required since they work over wifi
you're probably right that this is due to the way the emulator creates an ad hoc network connection to pass internet into the emulator
Maybe a different emulator would work better? What are you using? I like Memu the best, but Nox, Amiduos and Bluestacks are other options that you could try, but I'm pretty sure you'll encounter the same issue
you could also try a different mirroring app. Microsoft released one that might work: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager but the screen mirroring option isn't available for all devices.
It's not the most bestest.... Microsoft phone companion with my phone desktop app. (I'll see if I can find the links.)
Install this on your phone https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager
This on your PC. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/your-phone/9nmpj99vjbwv#activetab=pivot:overviewtab
I feel it's new enough it may not be blocked yet. If your may even work if your firewall is whitelisting since it's from msft?
I think Phone Companion App allows notifications on the PC (you need Windows 10, though). You'll also have to get the Windows version of the app.

• Read and reply to your text messages from your PC

Android Auto
Android Auto is a mobile app developed by Google to mirror features from an Android device, such as a smartphone, to a car's compatible in-dash information and entertainment head unit. Once an Android device is paired with the head unit, the system mirrors qualified apps from the device to the vehicle's display, with a simple, driver-friendly user interface.

- These apps are used to access stuff via his computer- Does he have access to porn on the pc? The apps are NOT porn, just fyi. But they are used to access your pc from your phone basically, so if he can access porn from the pc device, then that is why he has it hooked up like that.

Your Phone Companion from Microsoft. I've never gotten it to work. Good luck.
I know you asked for browser, but I've been using: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager&hl=en_AU
It's this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager
Plus, there is also an integration inside the OS too, but not an app that you can see or uninstall.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager
You need to install this from windows store as well (on your pc)
It's called 'Link to Windows' by Microsoft.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager
Microsoft's Link to Windows app does much of this.
Die Windows Seite der App sollte schon vorinstalliert sein.
OP you aren't giving enough information. What Operating System are you using? I've heard that Windows 11 allows you to download it through Amazon, but I haven't tried it myself. They have apparently discontinued support for the Windows 10 app, but I'm still able to listen/download books for some reason. I haven't bought any books since before the July 31st deadline, so I cannot say if newly-bought books will appear for me.
As for alternatives, if you're on Windows 10, I can give a suggestion. It's a rather annoying method but it works for me as well as the Windows 10 app. Keep in mind, your PC needs to be able to detect devices with Bluetooth, and you also need a Samsung Galaxy line phone using Android Version 9.0+ for this to work. I have a Galaxy S10 Plus, so I cannot say if other Android phones will work. However, there is a Link to Windows app on Google Play, so maybe other Android phones will work. In other words, just make sure the phone you use works with the "Phone Link" app. Also, the PC and phone need to share the same Wi-Fi network. Basically this. I suggest buying the cheapest phone from the list of supported devices above, if you don't have one.
1) Once you have your phone, open the Phone Link app on Windows 10. This allows you to use your phone virtually on your PC. Link your Android phone to your PC using this app. Watch this video on how to do this You will now be able to open the Audible app on your phone through your PC. You can also Favorite it inside the app to have it at the top. Also, when you open the Audible app through Phone Link, it will appear on you PC taskbar. You can Pin it to the taskbar for quick access, if you wish. You should definitely Pin it to the Start menu though.
The thing is, Audible will play out of your phone, instead of through your PC.
2) So now you need to get a Bluetooth Audio Receiver. I use this one. This will require you to connect your Android phone using the PC's Bluetooth function. Here's a video, if you're having trouble on that end. So basically, you need to connect your phone twice: once for control over apps on the phone, and another for receiving audio. This step will basically make your PC into your headphones. It took me a while to get that sorted, but once you do, it will allow your phones audio to transmit to your PC. You should keep it close to your PC, as I have noticed connection issues when I put them at a distance from each other. Pin this app to the Start menu as well.
3) Once both Phone Link and the Bluetooth Audio Receiver are working, open the Audio Receiver and connect to your phone. Once that's done, press "Open Connection." Audio should play, but if in case it doesn't, here's what I do. "Close Connection" on the BAR app. Using Audible through Phone Link, begin playing your book. The BAR should have "Close Connection," so that when you "Open Connection," it plays the phone audio. If all else fails, open the app settings for the BAR and press the reset button. This is how I have mine set up in the Start menu.
This is the best I can offer. It's not perfect, and the Bluetooth Audio Receiver stops working sometimes. However, if you can get it working, it's a great alternative to the web browser.
Cons of doing it this way:
There is a noticeable delay on the "Phone Link". Mainly a visual problem, but since you are going to listen and not browse, it should be fine. Pause button, Jump buttons, Bookmark, and the like all work fine. No noticeable input delay. When you press Pause, it will pause as soon as you press the button.
Your phone battery will drain faster than when idle. Easily overcome obstacle. Just connect your phone while using it. If it's a cheap phone that's replaceable, then what's there to lose if it wears down from over usage.
-It needs to remain close to you PC, if you want the Bluetooth to work as intended (at least, from personal experience).
Pros:
-Dark theme. IIRC, web browser didn't have this option.
Hopefully this helps :)
I think it's the interface for this app. This was previously called „Your Phone“ (YourPhone.exe)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager
I use Link to Windows to mirror my phone screen.
Its kind of annoying, but I found using the Link to Windows app works as a decent work around as long as your phone runs Android 7, which I think pretty much everyone has these days. Running Arknights is really smooth for me, honestly. Apps run on your phone and video is output to your PC.
The only downside is that sound still plays from your phone so you need something like Bluetooth audio reciever to get sound out of your pc, you lose access to stuff like keyboard/gamepad mapping and the macro feature most emulators have built in.
Monitor Profile Switcher - Useful for when you have multiple monitors and audio outputs, and want to quickly flip between them
AquaSnap - sticky, snappy, simple window manager
Sublime - best notepad
MobaXterm - SSH client that can do so, so much
TeamViewer - the best remote desktop app there is
Chroma Control - manage all the RGB in one app
Link to Windows - connect an Android device to your computer for remote access
Looking for a solid alternative to Windows Link / Windows Your Phone.

Microsoft Your Phone app ?
I use the 'Your Phone Companion' app with my s8 every day. I've had almost no issues with it. Here
If you plan on using an Android phone with Windows, it is somewhat possible.
Windows has the built-in Your Phone app, and a companion app in the Play Store.
For an Airdrop equivalent, you can use Feem, which can be found in both the Google Play and Microsoft stores.
On Samsung it is just backed into the system build but the app is available for all. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager
Just the Your Phone Companion app. It was called Microsoft Apps before, I believe.

> (syncing contacts between icloud and pixel is a nightmare and only possible with 3rd party apps that you just have to trust - the first one I used actually got blocked by google... go figure).
Because Apple wants to make it hard so you get locked into their ecosystem and can't easily leave. Why is this a "pro" for iPhone?
> syncing everyhting super easily
I think Google does a great job. Contacts, calendar, mail, documents, photos, etc. Everything is easy to export and move to a new service, or view on a computer. Something you complained about previously, but turns out it's Apple trying to prevent it.
> keychain manager / lastpass etc. integration is 10/10.
Android has perfect integration with nearly all password managers? Bitwarden on my phone is set to default password manager and it just works. I'm not locked into any specific manager.
> apple makes money with the hardware and software they sell you, not with the data they capture from you.
Sweet, sweet child.
> iOS / OSX wins that any day over android / windows (makes sense).
True, Apple products work well together. But like we established at the beginning with syncing Google stuff with Apple, it's because Apple refuses to play nicely with anyone else.
Also Android/Windows works pretty nicely together. With many services having dedicated web-apps (like https://messages.google.com), and Windows having their phone app that syncs your Android phone directly to Windows and have the ability to control it and respond via your computer.
Personally I prefer web-apps because I can respond to my text messages from any computer on any OS from any browser, and the "app" is always up-to-date requiring no updates to be downloaded. I am not tied to a Mac that is signed into my iCloud account. Allows me to easily sign in on a friends computer without worrying about anything else being synced or left behind.
In case you missed it elsewhere in the thread, Microsoft lets you do that with Android already, as well as photos and notifications on the phone:

Well for me this a no go anyway and i'm guessing this apply to all people that refused to change their android launcher just to test their garbage half backed app. They still false advertise it on Google play : Send and receive text messages on your PC
