Okay? is a neat little puzzle game where you try to hit all the blocks on screen in one shot of a ball. Tons of levels that get creative, great minimalist design, newly implemented level creator, and pay what you want for the game (It'll ask around the 25th level or so; $0 is an option). No ads unless you need a hint. EDIT: It's available on iOS too.
ok, no one cares what i think, but Greenheart stole the game concept from Kairosoft's Gave Dev Story https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.kairosoft.android.gamedev3en&hl=en and does all of their publicity by gimmick. Their game took off when they took on piracy (which was hilarious if it werent a stolen game) and now they are doing this. Stop marketing for these people!
This is the game, called cat (neko) collect (atsume). It's about collecting cats. Sadly, it's in Japanese, not English. It would be amazing if Google/YouTube decided to commit to Norway-style slow tv.
It is always a great game to come back to after a while. Also it and another Kairosoft game is being ported to the Switch
Redeemed it today morning, and played almost for an hour and a half.
This feels truly like a dumbed down version of Game Dev Story
Graphics are great to be honest. An upgrade over GDS, but my phone got a lot heated up during gaming. So, that's a concern.
The game though, felt hollow compared to GDS. Making games isn't much of a budget challenge because you always end up spending low.
Creating hype during start of development of a game, gets substantially reduced when you end the development. Feels like a wastage, and dosen't impact much on the sales.
Also every minute passes, and your fan follow get less. Always. I don't know how this can happen, but unless you advertise your fan following will become less. Also the genre choices and selections while making a game are less compared to GDS.
Also in terms of interaction, this game offers nothing. In GDS, after development, you used to do Debugging that in turn used to get you points to upgrade your playable characters. There is no such thing here. Also, in GDS, every once in a while, some employee would ask you to take more risks that may work or fail, and depending upon whether you want to spend the extra bucks, the game development can improve. This was a sweet addition that I missed here.
I really feel that this game could have made more enjoyable, but at the end, GDS felt more lively, fun and much more challenging to play.
Atomas is still the best time waster game I've come across since seeing it in one of these threads weeks ago. Next to Threes, it's the best way I've found to kill ten minutes and play sessions survive device restarts which is great since each session can get a little long one you start picking up some tricks.
Atomas. It's like 2048 (two tiles make the next one and you need to make as big a tile as you can) but round and with chemical elements. I'm at 17176 right now and still playing.
You could give Neko Atsume a try. The currency in the game is silver and golden fish and both can be earned through playing. The IAPs are to buy golden fish but they're not at all essential. There's also a 'daily password' section that lets you type in a code each day to get free fish.
It's from this Japanese cat game called Neko Atsume. You set out some cat food and cat toys and then cats from around the neighbourhood come and play with them. There's not much to it, but it's still pretty entertaining.
Neko Atsume is currently my girlfriend's obsession. Basically you lay out cat toys and food and attract cats to your house which you take pictures of. The cats also bring you fish which you use to buy better stuff and more rooms to fill with stuff.
I just sent her a link to Alpaca World.
I hope I hear from her again.
Game Dev Tycoon is an awful clone of Game Dev Story (which is unfortunately not available on PC in English (and not on Linux at all (unless one counts Android))).
I'm sorry but I'm literally shaking like omg fallout is LITERALLY dead to Me D E A D now that Bethesda is trying to take over my boy CANDY CRUSH as the #1 MOBILE GAME https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.king.candycrushsaga
And if you don't want to wait.. go play the game they copied! (though Game Dev Tycoon is fun too, but it's a rather blatent copy of Game Dev Story)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.kairosoft.android.gamedev3en
Idle oil tycoon https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.moldygames.oiltycoon&hl=en
Actually spent the few $$ to remove adds from it. It doesn't actually say you win, but it crashes because the numbers are too high.
A bigger example than this is Candy Crush
Candy Crush isn't the only culprit. Rather, it's King^TM in general. [check out the games section on the Wikiped page](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_(company)
Idle Oil Tycoon was my first incremental game. It was inspired by Adventure Capitalist which wasn't on android at the time, but I think IOT is better because of certain unique elements. It looks plain, but it's a satisfying game.
Battle Cats is a cute Japanese-origin game about cats taking over the world with some strategy and RPG elements. As you progress through the game, some of the characters get quite ridiculous. It's a fun time-waster. There's even a subreddit.
you... actually want to click only? eventually idle?
Let's go back to 2014: Idle Oil Tycoon back before the android store was chock full of fast follows. You literally cannot pay to win.
There's a great game dev on android who only makes management sims.
Their best game is game dev story. Where you manage a development studio. Designing games and even consoles.
They have countless others. Managing malls, tennis clubs, airports, etc.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.kairosoft.android.gamedev3en
OP is talking about this game released by a Japanese studio Kairosoft on the Android platform Game Dev Story.
I'm playing Neko Atsume furiously since I saw it on BoingBoing a few weeks ago. It's a mostly passive game where you place food and items in your yard to attract stray cats.
You don't need to understand Japanese to play and it's possible to get all the cats without paying, just a little slower. If you're not in Japan, you need to use a VPN to make a Japanese Play Store account or just sideload the apk.
In the last update(1.0.4), if seems that they have fixed the streaming low income error.
>WHAT'S NEW > >-Fixed issue that prevented streaming from giving enough views > >-Fixed multiple issues with setting the channel name > >-Fixed multiple issues with connecting to the server > >-Minor bug fixes >
So it may be all good now... :)
> I can't find one car game to play. --- Says a lot !!

Maybe "car" games aren't for you? Did you try this?
Just relax and play the game for fun... Not all win their 1st SE.......
> Do you have a source for that? No? Didn't think so. Because it's an impossible to define metric.
So are we just to ignore that its the top grossing game in the casual category of the play store?! Because they seem to think its a casual game, and who knows better than the devs and Google themselves?! link if you dont believe me.
Its just a category my dude.
>But the games YOU play are totally meant to be taken seriously, right?
Not all of them. Not every game is a serious game or casual game.. You have this really weird strawman youve setup, and for some reason youre convinced I have these opinions Ive never expressed. Yet again, 2 + 2 does not equal 9 my dude.
Acknowledging the category of a game does not inherently carry any of the other bullshit you attach to it.
Neko Atsume
I really love the hell out of Okay?, and would love to find some other abstract, non-stressful puzzle games like it.
I understand what you are getting at, but I just wanted to create something nice and fun to play. I am not trying to revolutionise the Kana learning experience.
However, I did have an idea. But I wasn't sure if it would work.
I thought that I could create a variety of these mini games for learning Kana and tie it something like Pou/Tamagotchi. You will need to play these games to earn coins so you can buy outfits/feed/treat your little pet.
I use Forest to time my skincare steps (and to make me productive during the academic hours)!
Not AB/skincare related, but I love this little Japanese cat app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.hit_point.nekoatsume&hl=en
Also, I love this little puzzle game: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ustwo.monumentvalley&hl=en
You can play Game Dev Story, the game from Game Dev Tycoon gets all it's ideas (it's quite the clone). It's only on mobile, I think, but well, bluestacks or Win11 can help with that: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.kairosoft.android.gamedev3en&hl=es&gl=US
Strategy, Simulator, Casual.
Any of these three, I believe.
I liked Game Dev Story.
You may also like AdVenture Capitalist.
I've been 'playing' Idle Oil Tycoon for the past couple of days. It's really basic, but it looks like it'll take quite a while to get all of the achievements (which boost the profits of your properties or how fast they resolve). You need to tap a little bit to start, but you can buy CEOs to make your properties generate money on their own. No need to be online, no fancy battery-draining animations, no problem here.

Yes something like Destiny 2 Companion:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bungieinc.bungiemobile&hl=en_US&gl=US
I'm talking about this game. This came out years before Game Dev Tycoon and I'm pretty sure it's just a complete rip with a bit fancier graphics.
Okay? (That's the name). It has a very simple concept and layout and I don't find it addictive. There are also no ads... Play store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.stollenmayer.philipp.Pop_1_1_Android
>Where can I get a cat that don't shed alot, less maintenance and preferably one that does not poop?
Game Dev Story.
You manage a company from the ground up and make video games. Simple but complex. Addictive.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.kairosoft.android.gamedev3en
They have a free version too, so try that first if not convinced. Also the developer makes a ton of other manager/ simulation mobile games. Like malls, trains, airports, manga, feudal towns, racing, tennis, etc. Look through their other stuff.
Enjoy.
I mentioned that in this thread. There's also an image of a weapon with 600 Attack on the Destiny Companion app.
On the companion app's store page there is an image of the Sweet Business with 600 attack, might just be a placeholder. Link
I've really been enjoying the game Atomas, by Sirnic. It works fine with no connectivity. It has in-app purchases, but you don't need them.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sirnic.atomas
I would say just download some paid/free apps from the store and see how did they do it. Try to mix different styles together.
For example the game i am currently making i really liked the style of menu from game called okay?
The cat collecting game? My mom got me into that game.. Quite fun, actually. Anyone who hasn't played it should play it right now. :P
And apparently Neko Atsume is real life now...
That's a good suggestion, those games helps to increase familiarity with touch mechanics. For my mom, I installed Pou. Nothing special about it, just a few minigames to get rewards and some cloth and doll-like silliness to play with.
It's a Pou, in baby form.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.pou.app&hl=en_US&gl=US
I still play sudoku with mine.
Out of curiosity I googled Battle Cats and I might just have to give that a try during my next break. Absolute respect for putting your logo on the car!
Yeah, this is what I imagined. It's just less useful because they're internal IDs rather than the publicly known name.
Actually we can look up all the apps by replacing the URL here, which goes to candy crush:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.king.candycrushsaga
Just replace the ID at the back.
EDIT: Looks like Google already pulled all these apps so we can't find them on the store. But at least those do seem to be like unique identifiers!
One I played a while ago and got back into recently is 'Okay?'
It's one of the most simple games but it will make you think.
It's a really minimal, chilled game. No explosions, no intense music, no invasive ads. It's challenging and soothing at the same time.
For the case you really don't know: It's the minigame "Craniac" in the game tuber simulator
Google play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.outerminds.tubular
Destiny2's companion app.
You can hot swap gear between characters or your bank. Otherwise youd have to leave your current planet and change the character, travel to the "bank planet" put the item in the bank, change character again, travel to bank planet and retrieve item.
Gift of the gods really.
Check Game Dev Story: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.kairosoft.android.gamedev3en&hl=en
A bit of their description on play store: "Manage your own game company and try to create a million-selling game in this unique simulation..."
A friend of mine swears by Neko Atsume, a Japanese cat collecting app that's been fully translated into English. You basically buy toys and food for cats who visit your yard, leave them out and if you return randomly, you may see the cats playing with toys and eating the food. Changing the toys and food can bring you new cats and there's even rare cats. Cats leave you fish as a reward when they're done and you can use that currency to buy more toys and more food. That's it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.hit_point.nekoatsume
I think Neko Atsume and Plant Nanny are pretty good at monetization. nothing annoying.
In Neko Atsume, you do in-app purchases if you're impatient. typical microtransaction.
In Plant Nanny, you can do a microtransaction to buy a large amount of seeds, or watch a video ad to collect a small amount of seeds.... which encourages the user to come back several times for the video ads.
[e: spelling]
Tell them absolutely not to spend the 99 cents, because that's not right. Here's links if you want to try sending them again:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/neko-atsume-kitty-collector/id923917775?mt=8
I like Atomas. It's a really good puzzle time waster and you can put it down for a while if need be. I've been known to kill a minute or two hours on it.
On mobile (iOS & Android), Neko Atsume. Where you attract adorable stray kitty cats and just gawk at them, leave them toys to play with and food to eat. Most of my department at work is now obsessed. Because it's kitties...
Otherwise GW2 at the moment (I need to move into higher level fractals and stop being noob) and I need to make time to finish Borderlands Tell Tale Games. Yes, I hear it's amazing. Omg, why amn't I playing it now? Prepping for T'giving Day dinner and studying >_<
It's called Neko-atsume (play store link), very basic/ addicting game. It has very straight forward instructions. You basically decorate your backyards and cats come to play in it, then they rate your backyard and give you sardines so you can buy more upgrades to attract more cats!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.ponos.battlecatsen&hl=en
There ya go :) It has lots of options for a free game. My brother recommended it, I'd never heard of it before that either.
Game Dev Story is fairly popular. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.kairosoft.android.gamedev3en&hl=en
As is Grand Prix Story https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.kairosoft.android.paddock_en&hl=en
I personally like their town management games though, like Dungeon Village.
People who're not toxic and salty, actually quit without saying a word. You on the other hand expected to be spoon feeded with items with zero effort and then come here crying how trash the game is.

I do believe that doing certain things while listening can help you stay more attentive. During CS lectures I often struggled with sleep deprivation and zoning out. At some point I started playing a very simple mobile game that was just interactive enough to keep me awake and present, while keeping the part of my mind, that processes new information, mostly free for something else (listening to the lecture/music). So somehow gluing my eyes and fingers to the screen allowed my ears to completely focus on listening.
I think this "side-task" can't just be anything. Nowadays I'm mostly busy with programming for work, and while I love having an album on in the background, it's usually mostly a blur that I'm hearing. My intellectual focus is on the programming, so there's nothing left for the music. However if you can do something "mindless" like playing a rather repetitive game, doing crafts, maybe drawing, or even some moderate sports, that could in turn allow you to better focus on really listening to the music.
Surely someone will be interested, so this is the game I was talking about. It even has a zen mode if I remember correctly, which is probably the perfect description for the kind of activity you can do while listening.

Otherwise there's always Legends of Idleon, that will have you hooked for a few hours atleast, it's online though.
Idling to Rule The Gods, The MOAB of idle games imo

That's the ones I can think of from the top of my head
You need kairosoft in your life.
I would recommend game dev story as a starter.
LFG sites all suck. The official Destiny 2 companion app made by Bungie has a tab of realtime LFG posts and it's a good time, especially now as people are straining to finish all the content before it Vaults.

Idle Oil Tycoon in an incremental on Android (maybe other platforms) that had minimal graphics and a very long progression. I was hooked on it daily for over a year.
I can see what you mean when comparing Candy Crush to Pokémon Shuffle.
From what I remember, Candy Crush had much harsher neon colours, and was more in-your-face with directing you to certain key items, pushing you to spend money or, like you said, register and link to Facebook.
Pokémon Shuffle seems to use more muted, earthy colours, which, while they are not directly eye-catching, are more pleasing to view over a longer period of time.
Gamefreak, Nintendo, and even this game's creator The Pokémon Company, seem adept at creating games that are more enjoyable by actual humans, rather then churning out junk to make an obscene profit.
However, I must ask, what's the gameplay like - are there puzzles, time trails, or even challenges built into the game?
Found it on the Android Play Store - Candy Crush Saga
Made by King, with a host of similar games on their page
It has been years since I've played Candy Crush, but, I'd have to agree, it is a guilty pleasure of a lot of people. The game can be challenging sometimes, when your fighting against the clock, but you don't need a specialist skill, or have to pay your way through to complete it, like most games on the mobiles.
It is interesting that you mention that there are no forced ads - like I said earlier, it been years, so I can't remember if I had to click through pages of ads.
I came across a similar game to Candy Crush - Toy Blast by Peak. I'm not sure if you've played it before, but it more or less works on a similar process of matching colours, but with different power-ups when compared to Candy Crush.
Download the D2 companion app from Google Play and go to "Fireteams". Post what you want and the number of people you need.
Have you installed the D2 companion application on your smart phone? It is free from Google Play and allows you to look for others via the LFG (labeled "Fireteams" on the app). You can create a post requesting how many you need, what platform, and even if you desire them to have mic's.
