Camera Zoom FX & Camera Zoom FX Premium have a ton of customization options, and a fantastic stabilizer. (Which is good if you're like me and take too many blurry shots by accident) I've been using the paid version for a while and have found it nicer to use than the stock camera apps I've tried.
Thank you!
Well, if you want to capture night shots it's perfect, but don't forget about changing time of sunrise (and sunset) through the year, so depending on time of the year you should change your alarm clock. I was there in Noveber so I think you can wake up a bit later due to winter darkness.
You also can try to use some apps to help yourself.
The photographer's ephemeris. Great planner with huge amount of info about sunrise/set, moonrise/set, moon phase and other. (http://photoephemeris.com/)
I also use that one app for Android called Golden hour. It has almost the same features than TPE but also helpful. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simplaapliko.goldenhour)
Start shooting about 3 hours before sunset. Use an app like fotocast to get photography suggestions based on the weather and time of day, or golden hour to plan the right time to take photos. Use a fill flash or reflector to fill in shadows on their faces and balance the lighting with the scene around. Personally I find flash better and easier to use, but make sure you have it off camera on a stand, about 45 degree angle. Use a portrait lens (minimum of 50mm, but better 85mm+). If you have nice scenery, use F/8 but if the scenery isn't the best use F2.8 to add bokeh to the background. In your case based on your lenses I would use the 55-210.
Tripod is not really necessary for portrait photography because outdoors during the day it would be very rare for you shutter speed to drop below 1/500.
If you have a really powerful flash you might be able to get away with putting the sun behind your subject which is optimal so they don't squint. Otherwise, try to keep the sun about 30 degrees in front of them, so it helps to light to their faces but not directly behind you so they are blinded.
Last but not least, make sure they take their cell phones out of their pockets unless you are doing headshots only.
I use the digital watchface provided with the 500px app.
If you don't know, 500px is a photo taking/sharing app, the watchface displays a random image each time your screen is active, and it looks quite nice and simplistic.

Be funky: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.befunky.BeFunkyPhotoEditor
☝ No sign up needed. Works completely offline
Adobe photoshop express: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.adobe.psmobile
☝ Sign up required after installation... but works completely offline after that. I personally recommend this one
> I'm not by any means a photographer and I'm not looking to spend a lot of money (read: future watch money) on a fancy camera or anything, just wondering what tips anyone can give me to take better pictures with what I have. The Google Pixel phone has an incredible camera for a phone, but I only ever use auto settings. What settings can I try to specifically take better watch photos?
Check out this post. I use a Pixel as well, and the stock google camera does not have the manual controls that the linked post is discussing. You will want an alternate app from the Play Store that supports manual controls. I use CameraZoom but there are plenty of others as well.
P.S. -- Awesome watch.
Yeah, it took me a pretty decent amount of time to make the best cartoons one. I mean, Young justice, TMNT, Teen Titans, and Avatar were a given, but after that I really had to stress my brain muscles because I don't watch that much non-anime.
About the format. I use this app to make them. It's simple and easy to use, highly recommend.
slightly slower version - spot the row boat
Captured using my Galaxy Note 4 with Camera Zoom FX app. 140 pictures captured at 10 sec intervals. GIF assembled and exported from Photoshop.
Not the best sunset I've seen out there, but the pitch perfect weather made up for it!
Something like a tablet would work the app is on google play store here is link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wandapps.multilayerphoto basically you add a skin file first the add a photo over it which will be what you want to combine it with.
There's a camera app for taking these kind of photos with your phone called 3DSteroid https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.suto.stereoroidpro
I used to have a digital stereo camera from japan but lost it unfortunately. I wish all photos were 3D. It adds so much detail.
I assume you're referring to the Power; not the Power 3. Generally speaking, it's a solid phone with excellent battery life. It has two weaknesses (from my perspective):
Can you set up https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simplaapliko.goldenhour in conjunction with an alarm as a notification?
Gimp is a desktop program. There are image editors for phones too, depending on what platform you're on (Aka Android or ios). On android after a quick play store search the following seems to work: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wandapps.multilayerphoto . There might be better ones though, I didn't spend too much time looking into it.
'Golden hour' a great app I just found that shows where/when the sun will be, based on your global position. Really helpful in my last vacation. Here is the android link.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simplaapliko.goldenhour
Shows: start time - end time - duration... and even where the sun will be from your position on the map.
How is it that the foreground rocks in your photo are showing as red?
There's PhotoSuite 4 but it also seems abandoned. It could be good if they didn't stop development and choosing between those two abandoned apps - PS Touch is better.
I now have all the colors of this series - green, yellow, blue, red, and gold and will be posting a picture of them all in one shot later today. beginning to feel a bit better and waiting on my other card display case to get here. If anyone is interested in what program I use for the filters/borders, its beFunky and is free on the Google Play Store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.befunky.BeFunkyPhotoEditor&hl=en
photosuite Is what I use and it's pretty close to a proper image editor. Some features are locked behind the pro version and the lite version also has ads.
Haven't tried it but a quick Google Search turned up this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.round.app
It might be only using the Google Cardboard SDK though, but I imagine since their business is VR tours they would likely soon upgrade to being Daydream compatible.
Kudos to you for responding.
The first app is CameraZoom. Bought it for a prior phone many years ago and have been using it ever since. Good app, though the Google app is better/easier for quick shots.
>I am still a bit worried about those 2gig ram being not future proof as I don't like to upgrade phones that often but 6p was big in size for my taste.
Much like you, I like to hang on to a phone for a while. I didn't go with the 6P because of size, and because a phone from a Chinese company founded and run by a former Chinese intelligence officer really doesn't give me the warm fuzzies. A Korean chaebol doesn't really inspire confidence either, but it is definitely the lesser of two evils.
Anyway, I have had the N5X since launch and absolutely love it. I rely on my phone extensively for both work and personal matters and it has never let me down, and is always smooth as glass. Plus, lot of folks running the N preview say it runs ever better on N, which bodes well for future proofing.
/u/red_serpent covered your questions very well, but re: the camera question if you are willing to pay for an app try Camerazoom. I am actually very happy with the stock camera app on the N5X but I had purchased Camerazoom on a prior phone and have tried it out on the N5X -- it definitely is more robust than the stock app. If I was taking a quick shot I would prefer the stock app but if I was staging something and had time to adjust ISO and all that jazz then Camerazoom is much better. (There is a free version of camerazoom as well but I can't vouch for it.)
Hope you enjoy your new phone!
I'm not sure of the best way to view these. I found using the Round Me app on Google Play to be easiest: use that with either a Cardboard viewer or your Gear VR but without plugging the phone in. On an S6 you can do that by moving the plug to the A position. Facebook has 360 photo support coming so that will likely become the easiest way for the Gear VR. If anyone has better suggestions please let me know.
The demo for Starfighter Arduxim is has been submitted to Oculus and will hopefully be on the store soon. The full game is still a few months away. More details at arduxim.com and /r/arduxim.
RoundMe is a good one. I don't remember exactly how good the scans were, but overall the app was alright. It at least did what you are requesting.
There's also a 500px app that works on AndroidTV. You can't pick your own pictures or even specific ones, but you pick categories.
I have no idea what a chrome filter is, but looking at the two photos on this website, the top photo (with chrome filter applied) looks like it's increased the contrast or something. The filtered photo just looks over-satured with light to me.
I use Camera ZOOM FX as my camera app and it's loaded down with filters I've not explored. I imagine over-saturation would be one or more of the included filters.
Here's an app that I have, it has drawing functions among many other things. The drawing is what it opens to on default so it's convenient. Hope it helps you! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobisystems.msgsreg
I tested FML Lollipop a few weeks ago and had pretty good luck with the free version of Camera ZOOM FX.
Yep, the flashing process back to kitkat is the same as any custom rom - clear system, cache and dalvik and install from .zip in recovery (I prefer TWRP). I don't use Titanium Backup or anything so I can't speak to whether or not restoring a lollipop backup is possible in kitkat.
