Seems like v5.32.6129 is the last version before the Avast takeover, downloadable here: https://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/76624/
EDIT: and if you don't want the Active System Monitoring feature, v4.17.4808 is the last version that doesn't have it: https://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/58488/
Note: v4.17.4808 does not have support for Windows 10.
The new, spyware version is 3.0.2. Here is FileHippo's page for Audacity; if you scroll down, you can download older versions while you look into alternatives.
Everything is an application which indexes and searches your PC for files, folders, keywords, etc. This search bar inputs any text and executes everything.exe with that input. Basically yes it is google for the pc.
For anybody wanting to do something like this here's the free version of it, it has no fancy features but according to a random site this is 1.01 free version:
i've been copying and pasting this reply so much the past few days, try pirate bay. they may not have what you're looking for, but hell it's worth a look.
https://pirateproxy.website/browse
this is a tracker you can use to search for torrents. try searching for things like SNES or Genesis, or whatever you're looking for.
https://filehippo.com/download_bittorrent/
this is a torrent client you can use to download the files. you want to click on the magnet links in the pirate bay site.
Next time the CPU usage is happening:
Run Process Explorer with admin rights > right-click the System
item > Properties > Threads tab > sort on CPU column > Share a screenshot (should look like this)
Edit: btw, you aren't running "nothing but Chrome" - you're running Nexus.exe
, which is both using CPU, and appears to do a bunch of things that involve interacting with Windows services, which would likely manifest as System
activity.
It looks like FileHippo has a copy of it - https://filehippo.com/download_windows-usb-dvd-download-tool/
The site appears to be a bit crazy with the ads even with an ad blocker, so proceed with caution.
You're probably missing c++ visual files, as for directx it's pretty easy fix. You're missing some directx9.0c files, get them from here: https://filehippo.com/download_directx/ (exe file will extract the files into folder you select then run dxsetup.exe from that folder).
First disable auto update in 57.
about:config:
update.auto - false; app.update.enabled - false; app.update.silent - false.
Secure all your bookmarks and other data.
Then install an old version over e.g. here

I'm using it since 2020 and have never seen a process by the name of paint.exe and my antivirus has never flagged ghost toolbox as a malware, idk why it's the case for you. You downloaded it from the official website right? Did you install the 'superlight version' or 'compact version?'
Also I recommend to use a program like Autoruns to check which programs start on boot
Some tips:
Yes. On your computer at home, open notepad. Type start cmd and click the grey bar under the thing where you choose the file name and click all files. Save it as anything.bat. Then download this bat to exe converter. Make it so the exe automatically runs with administrator privelages. Then upload the exe to google drive. On your school computer, download the exe you made from google drive. Once you open it type net localgroup administrators yourusernamehere /add. That will make you an administrator EDIT: You will see something that tells you to choose 32 or 64 bit. Choose 32 bit because if the computer is 64 bit, it can still run the 32 bit, but a 32 bit cant run a 64 bit
Sorry.
Yes, closing Google Chrome would free up some RAM, however, the 4GB that you have, even with 100% of it free, would be a limiting factor in achieving the full performance capabilities of a graphics card like the 1080.
Posts your full specs and ask for suggestions regarding component upgrades. Speccy can help with this.
dust your pc. open it up and use q tips and some compressed air or something to dust it.
ive used many programs like malwarebytes and ccleaner and avast and all that but i found IOBIT advanced system care to be the best. it cleaned my pc and made it start up way faster. better than malwarebytes and ccleaner. u can get the pro version on filehippo for 1 week
https://filehippo.com/download_advanced-systemcare-pro/
this is what ive done n my pc is a core 2 quad. so really old. n it still runs
Try downloading older versions from the following two places, https://filehippo.com/download_skype/ https://skype.en.uptodown.com/windows/old
Hope it helps, but I think they'll force you to update sooner or later.

Its been bought for about a year now, and in that time they had a trojan horse get deployed to about 2.27 million users inside the software.
After reading about that, I looked for an alternative and stumbled upon TronScript - an open source, command line configurable cleanup tool with a very active and responsive developer over at /r/TronScript. Haven't had a chance to try it myself, but it looks promising!
3.6.2 is what 4chan suggests now.
https://filehippo.com/download_memu/79416/
I don't really remember what version was used when guide was created, so... Probably that one.
Will test new Memus tomorrow.
It could be something like Windows updater or some other 3rd party software on your PC that automatically updates all your programs. Here is a suggestion. Verify what version of Google Earth is currently installed, uninstall it and look in your downloads folder for a previous version and install that one. If you can't find it you can download previous versions from the internet. I use File Hippo - https://filehippo.com/download_google-earth/. To the right are all the older versions. *disclaimer - if you have any saved maps, images, KML or KMZ files then make sure you back those up before deleting or reinstalling a previous version. Lastly, find out if you have auto update enabled anywhere on your PC and make sure it's disabled.
What anti-virus as you using, I'm assuming you're probably using some stock software that often doesn't really do the job? Do the pop-ups only come up as you have your browser open or does it happen regardless? If it happens all the time I would open control panel > Programs and then filter on install date and see if anything has been installed recently that might be the wrongdoer.
I use the following (Anti-virus & Anti-malware)
https://filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/
https://filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes/ < This is a trial iirc. It's something i use to clean up PCs for other people and always does the job.
You also might want to make sure whatever is happening didn't install any browser extensions so make sure to check in your extension list nothing fishy is there.
If you get it fixed, Just for safety reasons change your passwords to be on the safe side.(If any of the virus comes back with any sort of keylogger make sure to change anything, I would do so just in case)
Anything other than a GPU plugged in? Fan controllers, light hubs, AIO cooler pumps (that may use a driver)? I would eliminate what you can if you have any of those and see if the driver issue goes away. You can use a driver updater to check on if any drivers are old/missing. https://filehippo.com/download_slimdrivers/ has always worked for me. You can always use that info then seek out the old stuff from the manufacturer of the device if you want.
Driver verification sounds like it may not be whql certified, and Microsoft is getting mad.
https://filehippo.com/download_bluestacks_app_player/ They have some older versions here. This is why I never update once I find one that works though. I'd like to have the macro support from the newer versions, but it's not worth the risk.
for Asus Maximus III Extreme , a brief look i did it says it has the VIA VT2020 chip. so same thing i would try is, clean win 10 nstall, update .. if problem then try MB's audio drivers > this seems to be your driver > VIA Audio Driver V6.0.1.7600 from Asus website though it is for windows 7 x64. >Version 6.0.1.7600 2009/11/13 49.08 MBytes VIA Audio Driver V6.0.1.7600 for Windows 32/64bit XP & 32/64bit Vista& 32/64bit 7(WHQL)
if it dont works then try Realtek R2.81 (https://filehippo.com/download_realtek_high_definition_audio_vista_64/72913/)
i hope one of the driver does the work. gl~
For video editor- it depends on the features that you need, I still use the basic Movie Maker
For reducing background noise - I'm only familiar with Audacity's noise reduction feature
Thanks! And sorry for the slow reply. I didn't follow any tutorials myself, but this series looks good https://youtu.be/KnLFzKM_Tmk
With regards to downloading the Nik collection, you can still find versions from when Google made it free, and after DxO bought it but before they started charging for it again that will still work fine all the way up to the current Photoshop CC 2019. This version should work https://filehippo.com/download_dxo_nik_collection/67075/
If you don't have access to Photoshop, you can apparently use this to access the Nik collection tools without having to use Photoshop first. https://graesen.com/2016/04/use-nik-collection-plugins-without-photoshop/
Analog Efex Pro 2 has a ton of great presets built in, and the options for each are well laid out and easy to play with, so it's not a total head-scratcher!
The problem is that the update script downloaded a newer version than Origin expects. What version does Origin show in Help > About? If it is 10.5.38 you need to downgrade to 10.5.37. I usually use filehippo. Looks dodgy but I've found no other way of downloading older versions of Origin. In any case I compared the hashes and they are identical to the ones from EA, so it seems to be trustworthy.
Hi, I am not familiar with mac, but I did this with my win 7 machine. I was having trouble with the current version of bluestacks, so I downloaded version 2 of it from FILEHIPPO. See for mac if you can find a working solution.
FileHippo
Don’t.
Just rename the file to a .pdf and you can open it, each slide is a separate page.
I believe this also works if you change it to .jpg
CORRECTION: turns out I was wrong. You can do this with Keynote files (Apple’s version of PowerPoint) but not with .ppt files. But not to worry! Microsoft offers their own free software to view PowerPoint files and you can download it here: https://filehippo.com/download_powerpoint/
You are definitely still able to get windows live mail, just not through microsoft themselves. Here for example: https://filehippo.com/download_windows_live_mail/
Install, import from outlook express, then from wlm export to pst via another outlook.

For simple editing - like cutting out parts of videos or joining 2 or more videos, or resizing or cropping videos, the free AviDemux is a very useful tool. It can even do de/muxing (makes it easy change containers eg. mkv to mp4 without reencoding) and conversions (encode video / audio in different formats - like H.264 or HEVC).
It has loads of other features and is easy to learn.
Install Search Everything https://filehippo.com/download_everything/

Yet to find a game that didnt work. Overall not having to deal with limited memory (a whole 32MB of save games and being fairly rare these days I remember needing multiple of these)/long load times/scatched discs/multiple discs/no save states/no extra emulatin tools. Unless your a hardcore ps2 lover/speedrunner I honestly think emulation is the best option...
Well, I guess you could try these:
On that note, I hope this doesn't become "a thing" since there are so many iphone users out there.
I just got a new battery for my laptop and when I have my performance settings set to high perforamnce, my battery gets about an hour and a half at most. If you're gonna be running on battery life, set your power options to something that'll save you power to prolong your battery life. It will run slower this way, but thats to be expected.
You could try downloading the latest drivers for your laptop if you think its slow, or even upgrade to a SSD (if you haven't already). There is also a program called driverbooster that'll scan your PC's hardware and will let you know if anything needs updated. you can even download/install all applicable drivers through the program to make things easier. This will save you lots of time.
Instead of going to antivirus sites can you go to say filehippo.com or majorgeeks.com to download antivirus software, try Avast and do a boot time scan.
You can get rid of all the adverts by installing a different launcher. It can be a little bit of a pain to set up but it eliminates adverts. Getting rid of Youtube and getting Smart YouTube gets rid of all adverts on YouTube as well.
I have used this free antivirus for many years with all my computers (Windows 7 before, now Windows 10) and it works perfect with no issues what so ever.

The only site I know of is https://filehippo.com/download_spotify/, but I don't use it. So I can't say it's safe or that I trust it
Try restarting your computer (not shutdown and startup again, that isn't the same as hitting the restart button in menu). Right click empty space on desktop and refresh. Try to delete it in windows safe mode or use something like unlocker .
Had the exact same issue and tried everything. What fixed it for me was downloading the installer from this website instead . It asked to install an OpenGL program during installation, which fixed the issue. Hope this helps :) https://filehippo.com/download\_game-maker-studio-2/post\_download/
Version 3.47 might work for you too. I just downloaded it here:- https://filehippo.com/download_daemon-tools-lite/3.47/post_download/ and it behaves fine on Windows ME (Don't have a Win95 box to test on sorry).
I was going to suggest the free Office add in that lets you save as pdf, but I just checked the link and it is now unavailable.
Edit: it seems like Filehippo has it: https://filehippo.com/download_2007-microsoft-office-add-in-microsoft-save-as-pdf-or-xps/
If you are using Windows 10, it has a Microsoft Print to PDF installed as one of its printers.
Yeah I've noticed it was a lot more laggy since the update too. The way to downgrade is to uninstall your current version & then reinstall 93 from here.
Yes, its photo viewer has always been loved by me. Minimalistic, fast (even on old computers), and good-looking with a translucent background behind the photos.
Here is the last version in case anyone wants to try it.
In that image black is missing a rook
if you are using Firefox, right click in the site and select Take Screenshot, it will let you select the area that you want to capture, it's weird that lichess only let you convert it to gif but not to png
if you are on windows you can install DuckCapture that does the same thing
Ok then you still have options. There are tools that can delete stubborn folders like unlocker https://filehippo.com/download_unlocker/ You could also take permission of the folder although this one is confusing if you are not familiar with permissions.
filehippo keeps old versions archived. You gotta uninstall itunes than install the older version.
Just to let you know, unless you saved your library.itl files from an older version you'll have to add your files all over again.
You'll also have an issue buying & downloading from the store. I don't use the store anymore so it's not an issue to me. Would be best to have 11 or 12 on another computer if you want to continue store downloads.
I know this is an older post, but I wanted to note that I went to reinstall today, and noticed that the file linked in the OP failed the hash check, but that the filehippo.com version passed:
https://filehippo.com/download_kindle_for_pc/1.17.0.44170.0/post_download/
Sorry about that :/
If you used Windows to format your stick, it doesn't always works well. You might try to use "HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool" to be sure it's correctly formated.
I didn't need to use Home+Control.
Just power off the computer, put the stick in and power on while connected to the power supply.
The top lines tell you what you need to know. You either do not have the xna framework installed, or something has been corrupted within that program. So you'll need to download and reinstall it.
It's no longer available from Microsoft, so you'll have to grab it elsewhere. Filehippo has it and here's the link. (I figured I'd post this as it can be hard to find)
https://filehippo.com/download_microsoft_xna_framework_redistributable/?ex=CORE-190.2
A lot of illegitimate sites are out there.
www.rarlab.com is the real site and is even documented on Wikipedia.
Also, you could try downloading from Filehippo.
Some files are split, you need merged, you can try this tool https://filehippo.com/download_hjsplit/
Either way I would heavily recommend you abandon the emuparadise, their romsets are very old, have a lot of missing dumps, and have some bad dumps that got fixed with time, probably would be a wiser option to check the megathread....
If you upgraded and didn't like it (like me) you can download the old version (6.25) for windows here.
https://filehippo.com/download_evernote/
6.25 should be around for a while and hopefully some of this hot mess gets fixed in the meantime.
Here is a page with links to the older versions. Disconnect from the internet before installation or it will automatically download the latest version in the background.

There is a nice little free data recovery software which has served me very well in the past. It is called "Recuva". But it seems like the rights for it have been bought up by CCLEANER now and have made it a paid app. So if you do a google search, it will lead you there. So, instead, download the version 1.53 which is from the year 2016 when it was still free. Here's a link for Recuva v1.53: https://filehippo.com/download_recuva/
There is a seller named GEO store in Hamrobazar. They sell spare parts of laptops at a cheap rate. Check if the keyboard for your laptop is available in their items listing. If you find it they will replace your keyboard for you. I was charged Rs 300 for replacement labor costs along with the cost of the keyboard.
Link to their items listing.
Alternatively, you can use this free tool called SharpKeys to remap your keyboard keys. For example: If your 'G' key is not working you can remap it to less important keys like 'Page Up'.
I know this is kind of late, but I have a solution for installing shockwave on your XP VM. The issue with old internet explorer is it wouldn't allow download redirects, so the simplest solution is to drag and drop the shockwave download file from your main machine to the virtual one. P sure this is the file I used (https://filehippo.com/fr/download_shockwave/10.1.3.018/).
Might get laughed out of here for suggesting it but have you tried any of the old school open source/freeware apps? There are some wonderful apps like firefox, libreoffice, xampp, notepad++, gimp, obs, etc. and all are highly useful and utility driven.
It may not be able to detect the usb in explorer as the filesystem is likely ext 3 or 4 which Windows can't read. I suggest trying this tool to format the usb, it's worked for me in the past. What brand usb drive it's it
My favorite Windows UI-based network-scanner is the last freeware version of Softperfects
https://filehippo.com/download_softperfect-network-scanner/6.2.1/
Simple, easy, quick to use - even though it might not be the fastest.
FIXED
So Realtek HD audio drivers include a section for noise suppression which gets rid of the issue for us. It changes the voice veeeery slightly, but nothing that is really worse than hearing someone use a new mic for the first day.
SOLUTION:
Yes. I know! It’s totally weird.
But down the line, when you try to update your system downloading a major update, you’ll get a message saying that’s not possible to update Windows installed on an external drive or the updates will start to fail. In my case, I got a message saying the update was not possible.
This is not related to your license, but the way Windows was installed. It’s a portable Windows installation and because of that, not upgradable. You would have to do a clean install.
So, to fix this, you have to say to Windows that you’re not running a portable install, so you go to Windows registry and change “PortableOperatingSystem” from 1 to 0. This way Windows will think it’s a regular install and update it normally.
Now, you must be wondering if this update will have any issues, after all there must be a reason why it was blocked in the first place.
Well, this is Microsoft we’re talking about and they always don’t make sense. I’ve updated following the exact steps described here after getting an error message and I had not a single issue whatsoever.
Just follow the steps and I’ll help you with any issues you have. I would just wait a week to do it, because Windows will have a major update on May 28th, this Thursday, and it’s better to do a clean install of updated version.
Also, in the video tutorial he’ll ask you to download a software called WinToUSB. The problem is that this is an old tutorial and this software at the time was free. Not anymore. The current version 5.5 you would have to buy a license to do the installation.
This is why you need the old version 3.5 that you can find it on this link .
It may seem hard at the beginning, but you’ll see it’s really simple and it’s totally worth it.
Download from somewhere like (filehippo)[https://filehippo.com/download_microsoft_office_suite_2007_service_pack_3/] as Microsoft no longer supports office 2007 and therefore wants you to buy a new version, and put your product key in during the install process.
> (I have a 5.80 license
https://filehippo.com/download_winrar_64/post_download/
FileHippo are slow to update so as of right now, it's still the 5.80 version. Keep the installer safe from now on.
I'd do an antivirus scan, it never hurts to be skeptical of a 3rd party download site. I've used this link multiple times and never had problems with it, though.
As /u/ico_OO points out, you can use version 1.7.18958. Get it from FileHippo - https://filehippo.com/download_potplayer_64/ - and decline their offer to install the Opera browser ಠ_ಠ. After it's downloaded, disconnect from the Internet and install it. After it's installed, go to Settings > Preferences > General and set 'Auto check for updates' to Never, and uncheck the Auto download files if an update is available.
That's if you still want to use PotPlayer. IMO, stick with MPC-BE or VLC.
Try the following:
Make sure you have two separate 8-pin PCI-E, not a daisy-chained singular cable.
Under Windows Power Management, select AMD Ryzen Balanced => Change Plan Settings => Change Advanced Power Settings => PCI-E Link-State Power Management to 'Off'
Now for some annoying hoops in the name of hopefully fixing your BSODs.
Download CCleaner and AMD Driver Removal Utility
Reboot in safe mode, open AMD Driver Removal tool and remove your current drivers. Reboot in standard mode then open CCleaner to clean out your registry of any possible errors. Re-Install your previously downloaded driver package.
Under the Radeon software, disable everything except FreeSync if your monitor supports it. If it solves your problem, great! You can try enabling other features you want to use as well.
See how it goes from here. If you're still getting a bunch of BSODs, try installing the latest chipset drivers and roll back to 19.12.1. If you still get problems, the card may be faulty or something else (like a low quality DisplayPort cable) could be causing your crashes.
Hopefully you figure this out man, my Sapphire Pulse has been running fine since August with the exception of early driver problems (BSODs caused by Hardware Acceleration & Enhanced Sync).
You can try this
Press windowskey + r and type “shell:appsfolder” search for your game pass game, right click and make a shortcut.
Make a new text file and paste the following in
@ECHO OFF
START "" "C:....\Gears 5.lnk" (path to the shortcut you created for example Gears 5.lnk)
Timeout /T 15 /Nobreak
:LOOP
tasklist | find /i "GEARS5" >nul 2>&1
IF ERRORLEVEL 1 (
GOTO CONTINUE
) ELSE (
ECHO Game is still running
Timeout /T 5 /Nobreak
GOTO LOOP
)
:CONTINUE
Return
This command will check every 5 seconds if the game is still running. You can replace GEARS5 with any other game for example DISHONORED2. Make sure to use all capital letters and no spaces.
Rename this txt file to something.bat
Or a simpler version that doesn’t check if the game is still active.
@ECHO OFF
START “” “C:....\Gears 5.lnk”
If it doesn’t let you add a bat die you can try using this and convert the bat file to a exe.
I got it to work on Windows 10. It uses Adobe Shockwave.
I'm not sure if this step is necessary but I started by installing shockwave player here https://filehippo.com/download_shockwave/
Then go to your link in chrome, which downloads a file called space (2).dcr
I went to where that file was saved and dragged it into an Internet Explorer Window and it works.
Absolutely. FileHippo is usually a good place to look for older versions of widely used software. You can find iTunes 7 here: https://filehippo.com/download_itunes/history/10/
Enjoy!
Yes, you can recover OST Outlook OST data without having to pay a 3rd party. You can recover OST file with the help of Manual Solution are given below:
With the help of the manual method, we can recover Outlook OST data. But in the manual solution, there is a chance of risk of loss of OST data. So, I will recommend you can try the OST to PST Converter. It can give a 100% accurate result. It can convert OST file to a PST file without losing anything. This is a safe and secure solution to recover OST data.
Read more info: <strong>OST to PST Converter</strong>
Did you try updating the drivers? I use slim drivers but be careful when installing as it has a lot of adware tricky add ones. Take your time and deselect it
Recuva may save the day.
Note this software works well and is free; it was made by Piriform who also made ccleaner but they got bought out so that’s why the filehippo link, it’s to the last free version.
This can scan your drive and likely recover everything if you haven’t overwritten it.
I don't know if it will work but it might be worth trying on an older version https://filehippo.com/download_bluestacks_app_player/history/
no worries mate, just download program below & install it.
it not only removes shortcut virus but also doesn't delete any files. i have tried it personally.
good luck!

I have a workaround, but it's a bit of a hassle. If you uninstall origin and download and install an older version you will be able to log in again. You can download version 10.5.40.26928 from FileHippo
During installation uncheck 'Keep Origin and games up to date'. If you don't do this, it will download the latest version and not work.
After installing the older version log in and you'll be able to play your games. Be aware though that the next time you restart your computer Origin will force an update and you'll have to go through the same process again.
A full version of that "Photos" app doesn't exist, I think so. It seems your .mp3 audio file is too large.
Why haven't you worked with Windows Movie Maker to do that ?
Install the previous version: https://filehippo.com/download_origin/
You have to do this every time you want to start Origin, instead of starting normally. Your settings and games are kept, but you have to login each time.
What he said^
Also might want to check out https://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
You'll find a menu there with all the programs configured to run on startup, so you can disable them if not needed and you'll get faster boots
Had the same issue for a few days, finally fixed it. I'm using Lutris but I guess it should work with only wine as well.
I've downloaded Origin version 10.5.41.27263 OriginSetup.exe (https://filehippo.com/download_origin/) and installed it with 'run exe inside wine prefix' on Lutris. When installing, make sure to uncheck 'keep origin and games updated'.
Basically, installing the previous version and making sure it won't update to the latest buggy one.
This method is a GUARANTEED fix for the 'online login is currently unavailable' or 'you need to be online in order to sign' while your internet connection is just fine. I've seen that this method has worked for everyone else who didn't manage to sign into origin after they put their time on automatic.
So:
1 Uninstall origin completely. Don't uninstall your games, just Origin.2 Go to this link: https://filehippo.com/download_origin/ .. It should be Origin version 10.5.41.272633. Download the Origin from this link and while in the pre-install menu, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you UNCHECK the box saying 'Keep origin and my games up to date'.4. Click install and Sign in and play !
Do not exit origin or you will have to repeat.Good luck
I dont remember what update it was, but after that update a lot of emulators dont work. Don't know if they'll ever fix it. I'm not sure if this will work for the japanese version, but I'm using this one currently to play the global version. The newest version won't work for some reason, but this version does.
As a workaround, I installed the older version, 1.0.x (https://filehippo.com/download_spotify/history/). So far, so good. But I'm still hoping they will fix this on the latest version.
Same here, tried all the fixes, wondering about installing Firefox version 43 (https://filehippo.com/download_mozilla-firefox/65033/) and following this guide: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1100604
Anyone tried this?
Oh damn, that's not cool. :( Are you downloading from iTunes program itself? Or have you tried downloading a stand-alone version from a place like File Hippo? Here is a link where you can download version 12.6. Also, tell me if this link helps you at all. It's a shot in the dark, but it may help you download an older version of iTunes.
Use any video convertor <em>(Example)</em>.
If the subtitles are embedded, it shouldn't matter. If they're not embedded, then you don't need to convert the subtitles as long as you don't change the scree size.
lmfao guess i spoke too soon cause i came up to school with songs not from my playlist not working. altho i easily fixed it by deleting all the addresses i added again. ima see if it was the fact i was tryna block ads that broke it or it just breaks by itself. if the latter is true, i might just listen to this guy that msg'd me tha thad the same problem and downloaded an older version of spotify:
Monitor driver doesn't make sense. Internal hardware is what I was thinking. Often there are new releases for chipset ect. There is also a program called process explorer, it shows a very detailed task manager. I see it on https://filehippo.com/download_process_explorer As far as I know file hippo is safe, scan it first before running.
What's your GPU by the way? My guess is you might be using a built-in Intel HD graphics? i mean that could be why playing a game would use up a lot of CPU resources..
If not, try to run Malware Removal program like Malwarebytes(as r/techsupport suggests) and CCleaner as well if you want to, better safe than sorry.
Look for a post by Vitxu on this page.
He posts a Hosts file, and at the bottom of his post are update servers to block.
But the next post says not to include the last 2 domains of the update servers in your Hosts.
Also, Vitxu says to use his Hosts with an old version of Spotify from October 2017, which can be found here.
I recently purchased a new laptop and could not for the life of me get GNS3 to run. However, using this particular version of VMWare (12.5.5), things suddenly started to work. Might be worth a try in case it saves you the headaches I had haha.
https://filehippo.com/download_vmware-workstation-player/74326/ (I bookmarked this link in case I ever needed a reinstall)
You can message u/CHEF-KOCH and ask him to repost them. Unfortunately I didn't do backups of the lists in his links.
Try BlockTheSpot
Hopefully it works. Seems to be the most recommended thing these days.
Another possible way - look at the last few posts on this page. The post by Vitxu and the ones below it. Although Vitxu's post requires an old version of Spotify from 2017 which can be found here. Assuming that version "1.0.66.478.g1296534d" and version "1.0.66.478" are exactly the same.
Download netscanner, the old version (new one is timelimited)
https://filehippo.com/download_softperfect-network-scanner/71274/
Run a scan on your network and turn Port scanning for port 80 on in the options.
This will show you all devices on your network and guess the manufacturer of each. If a device is still unknown see if it has port 80 open I'm the scan. This means you can open a web browser, enter the IP address and view the web interface. Often this login screen will show you the device type.
What are your processor, ram and graphics card? If you don't know then you can download Speccy, it's only a few MB and you can see it all when you open it. Just hit "Download Latest Version" on the top right corner.
