No, but I will plug for Twilight Struggle, which myself and several other gsg-playing friends of mine also indulge in. Closest thing we are going to get to East v West (and probably better than that game was going to be). Recommend playing against actual people rather than the AI though.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.playdekgames.twilightstruggle&hl=en
It helps that a few of my frienda also like to play, so we play online, but I also enjoy playing against random people. We can play a few matches if you want (I'm not a very good player, but I enjoy playing).
Here is a good free app with a lot of features:
Twilight Struggle es una muy buena adaptación del excelentísimo boardgame que simula la Guerra Fría.
Si te interesan los juegos como el Civilization, tenés el Through the Ages.
I've never used the chess.com app so I don't mean to disparage, but, if you have access to the Android app store, the lichess app is superb.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.lichess.mobileapp
lichess is likely the most complete chess app out there. I particularly enjoy the randomly generated puzzles. Every match gives you statistics so you get a clue of your own playing style. Can play against AI or internet opponent, can add friends and follow others' matches. The match could be started on mobile and continued on the website, or vice versa. If you love chess, this is a must have.
Picked up Twilight Struggle on sale. Never heard of it before, but I'm having a blast. Despite getting my ass kicked every game. Very steep learning curve, but tickles that strategic itch.
Linkme: Twilight Struggle
Edit: Well, since the bot refuses to do the work, here's the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.playdekgames.twilightstruggle
As an enthusiast myself, I can't help but recommend Go. It's incredibly simple to pick up but has nearly endless depth. Their are lots of apps to play go as well as different websites, I recommend online-go.com, but as far as apps I recommend this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.aifactory.gofree&hl=en
Ive played Go casually, so I understand the concepts, but I'm far from an expert. Here's my take:
Each space you have is worth one point
A captured piece is worth one point
So, if you were to "fill up" your opponents territory with pieces then it'd reduce their points to zero. Of course, if they then capture all those pieces, they gain 1 point for the capture of each piece, and the spaces are then freed again, becoming worth 1 point again. This basically means that a failed "invade" essentially doubles the points those squares provide.
If you place stones in your opponents territory, try to make sure they won't get capture, otherwise you're just helping your opponent.
The easiest way to learn Go imo is just to play vs a basic AI. I downloaded a Go app for my mobile a while back (I don't have my phone on me right now, but I'm pretty sure its this one).
Is not just Match-3 but is that style of 'match things to do things'. 4 different kinds of spell damage to fight monsters in a 'rock-paper-scissors' kind of fashion, and two more for a shield (to block) and health (to heal).
Tons and tons of levels, find and upgrade weapons, and use spells too if you want.
Yes you can pay to get more gold and stuff (like all good freemium games) but I'm at stage 60 and haven't paid a dime. I play it now and again (I kind of forget about it for a bit then come back and play like 10-15 more levels) and it's really quite fun, well animated, and pretty dang fair with regards to gold and so on.
Sentinels of the Multiverse was $6.99 now $2.99 Cloud saving and crossplay with mac, pc, and android. the IAP are for levels and season passes.
Can't go wrong with Talisman:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nomadgames.talisman
One of my favourites- Tsuro
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Thunderbox.Tsuro
In the play store, go to Board Games and Premium. There are so many boardgames that have been converted. I've played a few over the years, but so many you may want to browse and have a look. (Carcasonne/Catan/Mystic Vale etc)

:) non sono un appassionato di scacchi, quindi magari qualcun altro saprà consigliarti meglio.. ma una volta provai questa e mi piacque.
Buon divertimento!
My go-to card game is "Sentinels of the Multiverse": https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.handelabra.Sentinels
The graphics may be a little old school, but the game play is superior to some other card games I've played. It has great replay value.
Although it has IAPs, you don't need to purchase anything, as they are for additional heroes and villains.
I just installed Diamonds & Dragons and will try it out so i am not sure this is a perfect fit but please try Good Knight Story https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.turbochilli.gks
It has some RPG elements like
Somehow it says it has In-Apps but i couldn´t find them. You can collect coins and double them by watching ads, if you die you can pay coins or watch ads to revive.
Beside the fluid gameplay without any energy and a fair gameplay (yes it's hard sometimes, but it is random, not like other match-3 puzzle set to impossible by the computer) it has a very funny Storyline.
I hope you enjoy it, i gave the game 5 stars.
it just came out so i wouldn't expect a discount for some time, however, if you have an android device or emulator you can play that for free: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.obsidian.pacg1&hl=en
or at least test it out to see if it is worth the price.
I have been playing Talisman for about a year now and I keep coming back to it. There is a lot to this board game and the matches are really long. The game runs slow on older phones and there are a few bugs but over all I have never had any issues with this game. I sugest you give it a try. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nomadgames.talisman
I liked Pathfinder Adventures. Although most of it is behind a paywall, It's a good game and doesn't require you to be online to play.
That's honestly really bizzare, it's strange how some games don't implement the complete chess ruleset. Anyway, lichess implements all the special moves: castling, promotion and en passant capturing. It also supports various different variants of chess, such as Chess960.
Board games are great at utilizing the main screen e.g. Talisman / Through the Ages

For free mobile app you can play offline with Free Chess from AI Factory. Or if you want online there's Lichess Online (link below).
For other platform such as PC (Steam) or PS4, there's Ultra Chess and I love this one personally. You won't regret buying this one.
Try out Lichess.
A huge part of this app is online based but you can play offline against a machine (with varying degree of complexity ). You can turn your phone into a chess board for two physical players. Save all your moves and analyse later.
Now for the online part. This app is maintained by professional players and you can get real time match analysis, daily puzzles and Tips n tricks ( more like massive homeworks). They also have archived matches, that you can go through along with a proposed better move for each turn.
Some boardgame adaptation perhaps? Might be a longshot, but - Twilight Struggle is one of my favorites that has a strong strategy and narrative aspect.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.playdekgames.twilightstruggle&hl=en
There's a mobile app which is the best "tabletop to electronic" game conversion IMHO. Its the best way to play a quick solo game if you want to practice.
Pathfinder Adventures, if you dig the thought of playing through a "D&D" (Pathfinder, actually) scenario in a PvE card game.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.obsidian.pacg1
If you're into deckbuilding card games at all, Sentinels of the Multiverse is a meaty portrait game that can be played/completed in a resonal session length.
In addition to the tabletop game, they make a mobile version if you want to flip your phone. It's the best mobile game I've ever played, HD clean graphics and it plays 100% identical to the tabletop game.
Good Knight Story is a fun match 3 game, funny at times with some RPG lite elements.
It's free and the game is pretty generous with its in-game currency. There is also no stamina system so you can retry a level as much as you want. Also no forced ads (you can watch an ad to revive).
The first one is good. I bought it. You can try the free version, too: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.aifactory.gofree
FYI your stones will not land exactly where your finger touches the board. Instead, when you touch and drag your finger around the board, you will control a stone that is offset from your finger by a little. This is a feature (which you can turn off in the settings) that enables you to see exactly where the stone will end up.
Hm, it can't find you. I think we're on different apps. This is the app I'm referring to "Chess - Play & Learn"
Link to Apple https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/chess-play-learn/id329218549?mt=8
and Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chess&hl=en
There are some games like Good Knight Story that only shows you ads if you want to double your coins after a round or want to be revived.
Be creative - find ways to implement the ads into the game. Give the player feeling he earns something for watching the ads. On that way both are happy - the players who want to watch the ads because they get something and the player who just want to play the game.
I have this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.aifactory.gofree&hl=en
Well, I have the paid version, but the free one is an easy way to try things out. There's a UI feature where the stone is actually offset from your finger, so that you can see it, and it's highlighted very clearly with red lines.
Let me recommend Pandmic. It's a great implementation of the boardgame. Though it's not networked, so works best as a solo challenge, it's really well-implemented and good fun.

Also trying out Momentum. I'm too tired to explain this one. Here is the link:

I like the app from chess.com: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chess
They have lessons, exercises and so on. You can play against the computer or online.
But I only use it from time to time and are really a chess novice. Maybe people with more experience have other suggestions.
The app works and VPN works. Many Russians now use VPN. And the chess.com app is popular as it's quite up to date compared to the Lichess app they haven't properly updated for years.
The app has 10m downloads and many Russians will download it now. So I assume half the users will stay on.

Hey there! Hows it going my open source wizard?
I have another request, and unfortunately its almost as specific as last time....
I would like the lichess app to be listed on fdroid for easier updating/auditing by the team.
Its essentially a chess app that connects to game servers and also hosts streams and competitions. Its already open source (web server/site, app, and game){so it shouldn't get the "promotes non-free network services" badge of shame} and has both a github and google play repo. Linked below:
https://github.com/veloce/lichobile/releases
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.lichess.mobileapp
Thank you so much in advance! If not no worries I can do direct install for this one.
Sorry, I don't know the program either, but I just started playing GO myself and I have been using the android app Go Free, (free for 9x9 and 13x13 boards, limited number of moves in 19x19)
I think it is cool because you can ask for hints as well as rollback and undo movements so you can start doing your best... and slowly learn how the AI would play instead.
After a few games you can try the easiest bots in online-go.com and then jump to humans ;)
Also a buck on the App Store and Google Play.
DLC is the same price across all three as well.
I can't see it, and when I search for the developer "playdek" it isn't listed either.

I have a hard time of remembering the name of a game.
Single player (story, levels) match 3 rpg. Released around the time that Good Knight Story was released. I remember that because the 2 games are similar and I played them both.
I think there was pvp elements to the game. The artstyle was cartoonish with bright colours. It was a about a blonde knight on his horse. The script was very humorous.
It was either made by a Russian speaker or sold to it. The game became riddled with ads after a while and basically died.
Edit: I'm not sure what those games are called, what genre they fall into. But it may have been "swipe 3", you know... Connect 3... Or something.

Not really word or number based but Lichess is one of my favourite apps, not just games, but out of them all. It has a puzzle of the day and "Training" mode.

My dad has $50 of Google Play credits he wants to give me. Can anyone suggest some "buy once" games that he can buy in his account and somehow transfer to mine? (so, e.g., a game with a free "demo" version that you can buy a premium unlock to, and it gives you a key – which I can then enter on my phone instead of on his) In terms of genre, I'm pretty eclectic. The only genres I really don't like are shooters and horror. Today I happen to be playing Pathfinder Adventures, but like I said, I'm open to anything from strategy to RPG to uniquely creative casual.

Good Knight Story. A cool matching game that doesn't require you to pay to win. There is an option of you want, but I didn't pay a dime and I beat the game. That's right, a matching game you can complete. Cool time waste game.
Twilight Struggle for a long game, Race for the Galaxy for short games. Both are brilliant.

I played briefly when/after Hikaru No Go aired, but regular online gaming got the best of me and I just forgot about it. The news of DeepMind beating that European champion reignited my interest for Go. So I've been playing a bit with Go Free as of late.
I already know the rules but was looking for some guidance getting past that. I think your channel is exactly what I was searching for (it's a hell of a lot better than reading text all the time).
Pandemic just came out. It's based on and a true translation of the coop board game of the same name. You control a group a researchers trying to find the cure for 4 global epidemics before the clock runs out.
