Give Podcast Addict a try.
EDIT: By the way, Pocket Casts allows you to a significant amount of organization using playlists (or categories? - forget the name, haven't used recently).
I use Podcast Addict, which allows you to download episodes. Also, you could install a file managing system on your device (what i use) and download the episodes from the website. Then just play the episodes through the file managing app.
I don't know of any easy way to do it quickly, but all the podcasts are available for mp3 download from podbay.
Alternatively, there are some very good apps for your phone such as podcast addict on android.
Although you might want to stick to Google Play Music, I highly recommend Podcast Addict on Android. Clean and simple interface.
> Pocket Casts
Podcast Addict is WAY better in my opinion
To answer the main question:
None, since I use mainly FOSS apps from F-Droid, GitHub, GitLab, XDA.
Podcast Addict is a great free podcast tool. It will allow you to download on wifi for later and automatically download certain podcasts as well as stream on demand.
I use it almost daily
Podcast Addict has been my go to:
You add a virtual podcast / audio book by selecting a folder per subscription. It will add any files placed in that directory.
Podcast & Radio Addict
It's another podcast app, but is updated much more frequently and the dev is extremely quick on responding to questions or problems. It's not as pretty to look at as Pocket Casts is, but is definitely a lot more robust.
Podcast Addict is a free, fantastic Pocket Casts alternative- I didn't use Pocket Casts for a long time, but PA seems to match it feature for feature.
Out of every podcast app I have used, this is the only one that I didn't want to figure out a way to be violent towards. It's got a lot of shortcomings, the backups are kinda wonky, there's a very large amount of settings, a couple of the podcasts I follow just do not download automatically for reasons I cannot find, there are many overlapping gestures, but it has a nice simple widget, and generally works; I cannot say anything resembling that for other apps like pocketcast or jellycast or whatever they're called.
It ain't Overcast, but it also doesn't inspire you to invent a means to make apps suffer.
Podcast Addict is my one of choice. Multiple sorting orders and multiple playlists! You can also have a global and per podcast options for auto adding to playlists, downloading and clean up.
I like Podcast Addict. Been using it for a few years now. It's pretty versatile and you can download for offline play as well as resume where you left off on every episode you're in the midst of.
Try Podcast Addict for Android, free version works fine.
You can easily add any soundcloud url to it (also itunes, youtube, etc) and it will auto download it when something new is added, so you can listen later offline.
Been using it for a long time and very happy with it, but there are plenty of other podcast apps.
Podcast Addict isn't bad and definitely ticks the free box. Though my goto on any platform is pocketcasts, although its a bit pricey.
I've used Podcast Addict on android in the past for Dude Soup and it always worked fine, episodes uploaded at the correct times etc.
Podcast Addict - has ads (choice of either banner or interstitial) which can be blocked with Blokada (no root needed) or a fully deserved payment of ₹160.
Yes to files in a directory. Yes to auto deleting on play completion.
In addition you can optionally
Set a play timer so it will shut off after 'x' minutes / hours
Send them to a recycle bin for 'x' days in case you want to restore
There's a great, fully-featured, popular, free (both libre & gratis) podcast app for Android called Podcast Addict. I use it, and I listen to plenty of podcasts which use things like art and chapters, so I guess it handles M4As just fine.
I don't know if you are being serious or not, but try downloading Podcast Addict (which is free), then tap the + button, tap search, then search for Sardonicast.
Don't listen to Newstalk anymore. Listen to podcasts now. If you want a great podcast, get the podcast addict app and subscribe to Dan Carlin's Hardcore History. His Common Sense podcast is pretty good too.
Eu mi-am instalat Podcast Addict si am inceput sa caut tot felul de cuvinte cheie in aplicatie.
I use Podcast Addict on Android, it plays them in the order I assign them to the playlist. The app has it's faults but it's worked for me for a few years now.
Spotify actually has a podcast section (it's under Browse). But, other than that, if you're an Android user like me I like Podcast Addict. Or if you're iPhone the Podcasts app works pretty well. You just have to look up/subscribe to the podcasts you want.
Why don't you use Podcast Addict since it has everything in the free version. It's my podcast app of choice to over Pocketcasts which I already own.
First off, that sucks about your ipod. I hope whoever stole it trips on a root and skins their knee in a really gross way.
That's weird about podbean. I don't use podbean, so I'm not sure. You should be able to use our RSS feed to subscribe, otherwise I use Podcast Addict on my phone. Let us know how you like the show!
I've been using Podcast Addict for months. The layout is decent, and there's lots of different ways to sort the podcasts (sort by download date, publication date, ect).
I just use podcast addict
It has all the podcasts that i want(cooptional, bombcast, beastcast, hardcore history) and automatically downloads them, removes silence, etc. Very cool app.
If you use Android, Podcast Addict is wonderful and allows you to subscribe to RSS feeds of any podcast you want then stream and download them offline, but already has most in its libraries. I've been using it for a while now and it has treated me well.
You can also import iTunes podcasts using it if they're only available on iTunes. These features should solve your problem if the websites of the podcasts you listen to have RSS feeds, as you can just plug them in and the app will automatically retrieve and catalog them for you.
If you iphone use this app - [link]
If you droid use this one - [link]
I am using a Galaxy S3 with cm13 right now and i use Podcast Addict for podcasts and it works really good despite my crappy <1GB RAM device.
O you have android. Go to the play store and download podcast addict. You can download them to your phone; if you really want to you can transfer them off you phone to your pc, but I would suggest just using your phone. If you want an help setting it up I'm happy to help.
Edit - here's a link to podcast addict on the play store
What are you using to download the podcast. Any standerd podcast app can automatically download eposode for you podcast addict is my personal favorite app
Try Podcast Addict. My 5:00 AM scheduled update auto downloaded the new episode of Red Mountain Express (along with all my other podcasts). I really like the app in general too. It's highly customizable and frequently updated.
Please jump ship to podcast addict link android
I was a fan of Pocketcast but they are lacking A LOT of options. It is a good looking app but I prefer to have the number of episodes i listened to synced in the cloud (when i have to buy a new device etc) Podcast addict has it all
Its the worst i hate that app did all the same things to me, get yourself a podcast player if your on android i use podcast addict [link]
the subscribe to RMG using this link [link]
my life is so much better after doing this, if you need help PM me
Podcast Addict is another good one. It goes up to 5x, though I've no idea who could actually listen to that. It's also free. Podcast Addict
PA has the most options from any podcast app I've used. And the whole idea of a single guy making a better app than a team (IMO) resonated with me.
As far as user defined categories, it is available, although I don't use then.
Give it a shot, the free version has all the options of the donate version, except it has ads.
PS. Sorry, I don't know how to add links from app.
Obligatory Podcast Addict recommendation here. Pages of settings and ability to override them on each feed separately allows you to automate everything. May be a bit complicated if you're just getting into podcasts, but there's nothing better once you need to manage more than a few subscriptions.
I use Podcast Addict: [link]
It supposedly has ads somewhere, but I've never seen one. The only thing purchasing the app does it remove the ad (to support the creator)
I use Podcast Addict. I can search for podcasts on here, or enter an RSS Feed. You can set it to automatically download episodes when they come out. Every few days I download a bunch of episodes of backlogged shows I like and then I put them in a play list, Podcast A, Podcast B, Podcast C, Podcast A...
I am not sure if it will play seamlessly between your Android and your PC because I haven't used it for that.
Linkme: Podcast Addict
Edit: Apparently I can't use the Linkme Bot correctly so Here it is.
Edit2: I did use it correctly but I'm impatient. Either works!
I just had time to check, and yes Podcast addict has 139 episodes of it going back 6 years. I was just able to download episode 1 from here.
Here is a link to the app. Android only and you can DL straight to your phone or stream them.
There is also Stitcher, they have both Android and iPhone apps, but AFAIK you cannot DL, only stream.
You can also find it on podcast addict
Also, with team make-up; Thatcher is better than Twitch, as his EMP is much easier to use and more effective than the Twitch cam.
never tried any of those (GPlay Music doesn't even offer podcasts in my country), but if you are looking for a new podcast app, I'm really happy with Podcast Addict
Oh yeah I hear you... :) They're like a 3 hour freight train sometimes.
Possible tip: lots of podcast apps ( [link] ) and I think recent VLC versions have an option to speed up (or slow down) without affecting the voices too much (not like those 80's VCRs fast forward sounds). Most podcasts these days I listen at 1.5x speed, but Bitcoin Uncensored often needs to go down to 1.1x or this last episode even to 1x as I found it too interesting to miss words.
But you could try playing it at 0.8x or so and see if that makes it easier for you.
I guess you don't listen to multiple podcasts ?
It's cool to have a podcast app, at least you can make sure you're not missing anything.
I use this one.
Ja sam koristio PodcastAddict
Slušao sam Nerdist, Europhoria, Hardcore History, Planet Money...
I use a Samsung galaxy edge myself and would be happy to add my 2cents.
I personally use Podcast Addict. Not only did the name seem fitting, it's free and relatively straight forward to use and they have a cool algorithm to that will look at what you listen to and recommend other podcasts.
Podcast addict is a great program that automatically downloads all your favourite podcasts. You can easily find and subscribe the podcasts you want(or discover new ones) through the app.
Have you considered using a real podcast app, like Podcast Addict or Pocket Casts?
No, you can find the story as a separate podcast. Just use any podcast app you prefer, I'm using podcast addict but there are also iTunes or Stitcher for example. You can also listen here.
I listened to zombies, run too when I still had a gym membership (I suck at running but would listen on the crosstrainer). I prefer the zombie theme a bit more, just because I like apocalyptic stuff, but the spy/terrorism theme of the walk is working well with walking through the neighborhood in my case, lol.
I use Podcast Addict on my Android, which also just downloads the episode automatically when a new episode comes out.
There's a sea of choices to get your podcast fix out there :)
If you're on Android I highly recommend Podcast Addict for listening to these. (Main advantage for me: you can increase the playback speed)
Thank you OP!
Podcast & Radio Addict from the Google Play store is my preferred weapon of audio entertainment for podcasts from iTunes.
Shows that focus on talking about various topics would be the key here. There are several podcasts out there with interesting content for whatever you might be interested in. There are also Youtube shows like Good Mythical Morning, or clips from nightly talk shows if you don't already catch those on television.
Something like this could help you [link]
And here is a direct link to Good Mythical Morning.
If you don't use iTunes, you can use any podcast aggregator to get it. I use Podcast Addict for android OS.
You can also use a soundcloud ripper to rip from [link] if you want to put some effort in.
I'd just like to say that VLC didn't work for me on Linux or on Android; Podcast Addict on Android had my back, though.
Open this URL in Podcast Addict: [link]
If you are on Android, check out PodCast Addict as you can search for podcasts and filter by one or more languages. I learned about it in this sub.
Why not just use a podcast app? There are some amazing apps, like Podcast Addict and Pocket Casts.
(Google should not have incorporated podcasts into their music app.)
For Android there's podcast addict which is a free podcast manager and downloader, much easier than downloading to your PC and then transferring to your phone.
Oh well if you have the storage for it, a podcast app works well since you can download everything available in the app, I've used it for this exact reason too, and a lot of podcasts are there. I prefer podcast addict. My list looks like 100% reversed, WE R, Unleashed, Nightbreed, Extreme Audio, Global Dedication, HWS, inZanity, Isaac's, KTRA, Masters of HC, VNTG, Louder, Italia, and Xxlerator
A great app is Podcast addict on android (probably on iOS too), been listening to the Rooster teeth podcast and dude soup (people from funhaus)
DoggCatcher is a paid app. I don't pay for apps... However, using that link I did find a free app called Podcast Addict, that although clunky does exactly what I want!
Podcast Addict is what I replaced BeyondPod with about a year or so ago, haven't missed it or looked for anything else since.
Works great on AndroidTV, as well.
I use Podcast Addict
You can set it to download episodes only when you have wifi available, or stream them directly.
Install Podcast Addict on your phone, you should find every podcast you talk about (ABGT, 3lau) and more without problem.
If you have android I recommend Podcast Addict, it lets you subscribe to podcasts and it will automatically download them when you are on Wi-Fi for offline listening.
Spend 40 mins in commute. However, I really enjoy it because I listen to podcasts while driving and it totally make my drive worthwhile.
For anyone who wants to start off, use the PodcastAddict App on PlayStore.
I love the Podcast Addict layout and options. Here's a screenshot of my page (paid version. I believe the free one has a small banner ad) Might be a few suggestions for you there as well.
It has a feature to add podcast episodes that aren't in the free feed. You just need the actual file on your phone somewhere and then tell the app where to look.
edit: included link. and found out it's apparently the #1 Android podcast app, which is probably the reason I originally got it
This should help get you started if you don't want to start out searching inside your own fields of interest first.
An askreddit thread about favorite podcasts
Also if you are going to be listening to podcasts on an Android phone I can recommend the paid version of Podcast Addict.
It has a built in podcast search engine, and you can add shows from links if the podcast which you want to listen to is not covered by the engine.
You can use any podcatcher and download and listen to the podcast that way. On Android I use Podcast Addict and it works great for me, listen to the podcast during commute pretty much every time.
If you like podcasts, I would really recommend Podcast Addict. Use out of the box, or you can customize: how many episodes you want to download, when to download, automatic cleanup, download only certain sizes, etc.
Really impressive, and under constant active development.
It's a good podcast, loved the Pyramids one they just did. I get it through the app Podcast Addict. My only complaint would be that the audio is sometimes not balanced. One person will be very loud, and you can barely hear another person. Makes adjusting the volume a bit tricky.
I'm an android user and I use the Podcast addict app. It's a great app and it has a bunch of features that I haven't found on any other apps. It has a volume boost that amplifies the volume (albeit increasing cpu usage), you can manually update all of the podcasts you listen to, as well as . I use it to listen to Bill Burr's Monday Morning Podcast, Your Mom's House Podcast, The Church of What's Happening Now, The Fighter and The Kid, Bert Kreischer's Bertcast, and Ari Shaffir's Skeptic Tank.
And here's the link to it:
Some podcast players (e.g. Podcast Addict) will populate %MTRACK even though they aren't specifically listed as being compatible. Try it with yours, you might not need Media Utilities.
Edit: Note that, since it's a Monitored variable, you'll need to use it in a profile to make it have a value. A simple Variable Set event will do. If your unnamed podcast app won't trigger it, you should request it (or at least some broadcast intent) as a feature on the app's forum(s).
Podcast Addict Is my go to app.
I'm giving Doggcatcher a try now though since I got it for free from Amazon app store app of the day.
Yup, this show always has a quieter volume than the other podcasts I listen to, and is made worse when either of them mumble. :( I use the app Podcast Addict (Android only I think), which has a volume booster which helps a little bit.
CGPGrey does not use Android, so I doubt he’d have a helpful answer to the question at the end of your comment.
I use Podcast Addict and I love it. You can set it up to automatically download podcasts when they update, but I personally prefer to download them manually when I get notified on Feedly or by email.
Most of the podcasts I listen to are related to business, UX design, or both - mostly business. I found a few initially through Podcast Addict. But many of the others, I just find because I know about the host somewhere else, like an email list or Twitter.
They don't have a first party podcast app for android. I currently use Podcast Addict. Works nearly as well as Itunes, and has some nice data control options.
>Podcasts, Audio books, RSS news feeds and Radio
For a simpler app there is
As people have mentioned, there are a few ways of listening. You can stream them or download them from the RHAP website but I would recommend using a Podcast app to subsribe to RHAP podcast (and other podcasts for that matter) so that new episodes are automatically downloaded and you can keep track of which episodes you have listened to and which not, this is esp useful if you fall behind on them. The one I use on android is Podcast Addict [link] (it's free and fantastic). After installing it, you can just search for whichever podcast you want within the app and subscribe to it and listen to it with the app.
No it's not. So you have to download an app (for example Podcast Addict which is great) and give it the address of the RSS feed :)
You can try Podcast Addict. Its built for Podcasts but it also has an option to organize offline audiobooks.
It just doesnt have a seek bar in AA. I think that media players can't have seek bars in AA cause it might be "distracting" to the driver. Can be wrong doe...
[link] or if you want to online their website isn't too bad ..just make it list view, click the last page and start..the add each ep as next
Also ich nutze ja PodCast Addict( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bambuna.podcastaddict).
I've been listening since ep 1 back on Soundcloud. I get my episodes to my android app (Podcast Addict) and I did notice the Alspach and Hague and Chris Bryan in the episode list. I'll probably try to catch up to those episodes this week.
In addition to keeping track of playback position for multiple files at a time, it allows you to create virtual podcasts by specifying a folder (on internal or SD card) and dropping media files into it. Each folder is its own channel, each media file in it their own episode.
This podcatcher for android found any of these podcasts I looked for in its builtin search engine and can be set to download on wifi only.
You've got to try Podcast Addict. It is great for Podcasts and Audiobooks. + the dev is a great guy and deserves all the love!
> Alot of us haven't been automated and have less then two hours of free time a night.
listentoyoutube.com + podcast addict (supports up to 5x playback speed) ;)
> * Wages will be driven to essentially 0.
Robin predicts that we will be able to emulate human brains long before strong AI will be invented. Emulations can be created at ~0 cost, which bids the price of labor down to ~0. Emulations will also be much better than you or me because they can be sped up or slowed down, frozen in their prime years, and based on hyper-genius-level brains.
> * The doubling rate of the economy will be measured in weeks.
The growth rate of the economy is limited by the growth, development, and learning rate of humans, which is slow. Emulations can be trained and grown in seconds.
> * Per capita GDP may not grow.
Natural selection. The most numerous emulations will be the ones with brains that are in high demand + want to become numerous. Trillions of emulations can be built in tiny bodies or can live in the cloud doing work and getting paid. (If producing new humans had ~0 cost, per-capita GDP would fall.) Another way to think about this is that the population growth rate can exceed the GDP growth rate and will exceed it because of natural selection.
> Doubling rate of the economies in weeks is some singularity Ray Kurtzweil shit son.
I'm a Kurzweil skeptic. I think at this rate we're ~100 years from strong AI.
> Even in that guy's books we're far off from it.
Yes. Ems don't rely on a new AI theory breakthrough.
Typos edited and added some clarity.
I'm personally using Podcast Addict. [link]
It's not the most visually stunning app, but it's good and functional.
EDIT: And yes, it supports offline downloads.
Eu folosesc Podcast Addict, si imi place foarte mult aplicatia.
I use Podcast Addict. I have used Pocket Casts in the past for like two years. Honestly, Pocketcasts just has a nicer UI and looks elegant. Cross-Device sync is nice but it has not been super accurate for me when I have reset my phone.
That is why I use Podcast Addict because I can do a full backup of my podcasts and play history more reliably when I do a factory reset.
