If you're on Android, here's the most popular client;

I'm glad this is working so well. I was happy when Signal improved on OTR so much with a better protocol, but then they abandoned the plans for federation like with XMPP.
Now these guys were able to further improve upon Signal's protocol by applying it in a federated network. This is essentially what XMPP + OTR aspired to be.
I am currently learning the morse code as well. One of the best Android learning tools I found is this one:

Experienced amateur operators say we are going through a CW Renaissance. Please join it.
Federation is the way to go. Everybody using email are already familiar with it.
Matrix.org is the new open protocol that is so much better for mobile use than XMPP and IRC, and more modern overall. E2E encryption derived from Signal's protocol too. The Android client Riot is great.
The static universal nicknames look a bit awkward, but meh. I'm not seeing any better option out there. I'm @Natanael_L:matrix.org, if anybody want to test it out.

I use Real Time GPS Tracker 2. It sends pings to a server. It's also a good tool for loved ones to watch your progress. I always tell them to send help if I'm stuck in one place for longer than a day, but I usually have data throughout all of my trips so they can always contact me regardless. Either way though, it's a good way to log data and go over it after the trip.
I'm sure you would have said were it the case, but if you happen to be in the Android minority, I've had great results with RTT2. I've used it to meet back up with friends and family amidst the post-run crowds. Entirely free, highly customisable.
Try this - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.httrack.android&hl=en, I didn't try it myself but I think it does support PDFs.
btw I'm the developer behind Offline and I'll eventually add support for PDFs (although it's really low on my todo list).
WeChat should be removed from the play store outside China for violating personal freedoms and discrimination. I invite everyone who reads this comment to go here and report the app.
> AFAIK, microG somehow anonymizes any data that is sent through GCM, but I'm not exactly sure how.
It doesn't. It can't. microG minimizes the identifiers sent to Google, but the data that actually gets sent through GCM depends entirely on the particular app's push server: some apps are sensible enough to only send "wake up calls" through GCM, and then use a separate connection for the actual payload, while at the other end, there are those that just send the plaintext data over the GCM channel. The Play version of Riot.im is an example of an app that lets you choose which method to use the first time you run it. I say "the Play version" because the F-Droid version, of course, cannot include GCM at all, and just polls periodically when in the background (though I'm not sure why it can't just keep a socket open that it gets highlights from).

Edit: use something like Real-Time GPS Tracker.
If you can only find online sites, there is still a way to get it offline. There are apps that download entire websites to your storage, and then you can use a browser to open the offline file and you can just navigate the site like usual.

Keep in mind, however, that a large database like the one you are looking for will take up quite some space on your phone, and downloading it will take some time.
I used a geo VPN called Psiphon to access from USA, Netherlands and Japan, but encountered a "not available in your country yet" from the Play Store for all three. The app dev is based in Japan.
If you know the package name or direct Play Store URL you could try Evozi's APK Downloader website, which downloads app APKs from Google Play store.
Anybody using a Matrix.org client can use the IRC proxy room address https://matrix.to/#/#freenode_##flashlight:matrix.org
I'm using the client Riot

Try to open (or download) the Verizon Visual Voicemail app which is where you can access Visual Voicemail in a separate app.
Then go into the settings and choose display voicemail in the dialer app.
Keep it up! I'm on Android and I started using Morse Machine a few weeks ago, recently got Morse Toad. Both Apps are very similar, Morse Machine has more settings and a landscape keyboard.
I have been attempting to learn Morse for years but started the wrong way by learning at 5wpm and my brain is very capable of counting up to 10wpm; I've been smashing through the counting barrier in the past week and hoping to be on air soon! Someone also mentioned Koch Morse Trainer Pro and that's what I am using to break the 10wpm barrier with letters set at 20wpm.
Are you thinking of this one? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.motorola.visualvoicemail
I installed the Gnex one just for the hell of it and I couldn't get past the checking account status but it def hasn't been updated visually. Now the regular Verizon Voicemail app has and it doesn't work with the 6P.
Depends on the phone. It works on the N6 because Motorola wrote their own visual voicemail app that ties into the dialer. Unfortunatly the 6P has no such option on Verizon. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.motorola.visualvoicemail&hl=en
Yes, I use RTT2 for exactly this purpose. You can choose when to switch it on and off. You can also set how frequently it should update your location to the server, which can be useful for preserving battery life. You're then given a URL which you can share with people who want to track your location. It works really well and I highly recommend it.
Memory management on Kit Kat is really poor. Unfortunately, there are still issues in Lollipop (better - not perfect). IMO CM Browser works well on the Moto G.
If you are not averse to using the terminal, you can use curl in Termux
Or try HTTrack Website Copier
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.greenalp.realtimetracker2
You send a link once and it stays persistent.
You can use Telegram and pin the message if that helps. Or MacroDroid can send the link by text but these steps aren't necessary once you've for the link saved
According to the play store, it currently requires 5.0 - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tencent.mm&hl=en&gl=us
It's possible you may be able to install and use an older version of wechat - see https://wechat.en.uptodown.com/android/versions - but on my iphone 5 that's not the case, as the latest version of wechat available for the 5 says it's out of date and takes me to the apple store to upgrade (and then there's no upgrade available).
Morse machine I used this for the bulk of letter learning. Be sure to set it to koch mode.
Iz2uuf I use this to take snippets from daily news articles or whatever, and play them back at 20wpm with 10x increase in letter and word spacing. That brings it down to about 4.5wpm effective. Don't use this till you learn all the letters though.
Here’s Verizon’s voicemail app. Dunno if it’ll work but worth a try. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.motorola.visualvoicemail&hl=en
On newer Samsung phones when a SIM is installed in a non SIM locked phone the phone is supposed to restart, the splash screen for the carrier will appear, and the phone will automatically download that carrier’s apps.
You can try Morse Machine, it's works well, then Morse Trainer. Use the Farnsworth setting so you hear it at real speed but get more time between each caracter, then improve speed by reducing time between caracters and you'll soon be fluent. Morse Machine : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.iu4apc.morsemachine
Morse Trainer : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wolphi.morsetrainer
If you try to go to Facebook.com on a browser but have no internet connection, nothing will load. Because it doesn't have access to Facebook.com, or any of the resources that page needs to load. Using Android? Go download HTTrack website copier. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.httrack.android
Verizon has it too. They call it Visual Voicemail.
Out of 702 reviews, it has 1.5 stars. It overwhelmingly sucks.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rebelvox.voxer
Voxer walkie talkie messenger.
I'm pretty sure they are legally obligated to maintain a minimum number of bugs in their app because each time they fix one they break something else...
It's certainly bizarre, but I'm definitely not alone. Seems like almost every single recent review would agree with what I'm saying. See for yourself
That's good, and I'm fine with 3G. I want to try data on my wife's phone (I already have some) to see if it's worth upgrading her plan. (I'm playing with a tracking app which uses some data - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.greenalp.realtimetracker2 )
Try Riot.im for something different. Excellent security and privacy. Besides that, I'd also say Signal and Wire, but they've already been mentioned.
You send a link to family members or anyone else who you'd like to know of your whereabouts and it sends them a ping at the specified time intervals. I used it on River trips when I go by myself. Don't have to think about it, and it also gives me great statistical information. ^Also,^it's^free
What you are looking for is Matrix.org, which has end to end encryption support just like Signal, but it's open like IRC and Jabber (XMPP), and anybody can run their own server and use their own client.
The popular Android client is Riot.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=im.vector.alpha
Morse Machine on Android does this, but it's a paid app (though cheap).
Edit: If you're not on Android, there is the Automatic Morse Teaching Machine program for Linux, Windows, Mac and DOS. It's not very configurable, though.
I recommend your carrier's visual voicemail app for Android. Set up Visual Voicemail for your account with customer support then download this app.
Try voxer, it's great for communicating with your SO and it works on the web, when you're at your desk. I just log into it with facebook so I don't have to remember a separate username/password.
> Ainda a semana passada vi uma pessoa com Viber, Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger, Skype e mais uma panóplia de serviços que desconhecia.
Tinha o WeChat? Se sim, tenho palpites sobre o que essa pessoa faz.
the best part is you're the only one that needs it installed. anybody you send a link to can view the map in any web browser.
Hmm maybe it was a different app? I had been using this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.motorola.visualvoicemail on the Droid Maxx, though I notice this one was made by Motorola so maybe that's why? Anyway, when you open the app for the first time, it asks if you want standard or premium, and standard is free. Not compatible with the Nexus 6P yet unfortunately
Does anyone have a regular Nexus 6 on Verizon? If so, it would be awesome if you could export and upload the apk for the below app. I hope it supports the N6P at some point, but the fact that it does N6 and MXPE already leaves a little light at the end of the tunnel.
I do not want to use Google Voice. I had it setup and started to have issues once I turned Advanced Calling on (VoLTE).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.motorola.visualvoicemail&hl=en
EDIT: Probably not going to get official support, as Moto wrote the app. :(
That's a good question. When I got my first voicemail on the phone, it alerted me to download Verizon's Visual Voicemail app. Once I downloaded it and set it up, the message went away. If you aren't using it yet, you should give it a try. It's way more handy than calling to check your messages, and it's free (if you don't get the premium). I highly suggest downloading it, even if you still want to call to check your messages.
At first it was chrome. Then I went Dolphin, but some functionality was quirky at times, still good browser.
Right now i'm using Cheetah, and it's a pretty solid browser. I like it a lot.
Endorsing: Cheetah Mobile Browser
I do have some tasks that need root, mainly hard killing Torque (using the TaskKill plugin) when I get out of the car, but stopping and starting the tracking app uses intents (no root required).
The app I use is Real-Time GPS Tracker 2 - RTT2 (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.greenalp.realtimetracker2&hl=en).
My friends and family can track me anytime they like at http://finddougie.com
It also starts tracking me using an APRS (Automatic Position Reporting System) app using intents, but that's a HAM radio thing.
I don't believe you need root to turn off WiFi in the car.
